CORR Racers Get Some Seat Time in at Race Town 395
Race Town 395, California (April 18, 2006)
Despite the gusty winds that raked the high desert town of Adelanto, California, the DirtNewz crew spent the day perusing the first of several CORR testing sessions held on the West Coast.
With the 2006 CORR season opener set to embark a new CORR era, under the helm of Jim Baldwin, only 4 ½ weeks away, a handful of veteran CORR racers mixed with rookies to test their new and redefined race trucks for the May 19-21, 2006 opener.
For the first time ever, Race Town 395 hosted a practice session that was not related to dirt bikes. Some of the nation’s top CORR racers arrived to the freshly designed dirt track and put their trucks through the paces in search of testing and running their trucks at race speeds.
Some of CORR’s top drivers including Steve Barlow, Todd LeDuc, Jerry Welchel and Travis & Marty Coyne led a group of rookies around the track demonstrating the techniques of what CORR racing is all about.
Although the Race Town 395 track is tighter and shorter than these CORR racers are used to (less than ½ mile), the drivers voiced appreciation for the opportunity to log seat time in their hot rods before the first Chula Vista race.
