CORR Practice Explodes at Antelope Valley / Herbst, Douglas, Greaves, Barlow, Cenni, Noel, MacCachren all Spin Laps

April 17, 2007

Lancaster, CALIFORNIA – The 2007 CORR season is underway as the nation's top off road closed course racers converge on a small piece of dirt at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster, California for two days of practice that began on Monday morning.

DIRTnewz staffers arrived Monday around noon to discover that wild action was well underway after the first practice where Ed Herbst rolled his newly built Greaves Brothers Pro-4 in only his second lap of practice suffering slight damage that was repaired and allowed him to get back into the dirt on Monday evening.

That did not detract from the practice session as many of the nations top teams rolled out new hardware. John Hoffman, Crew Chief and Team Manager for Pflueger Racing unloaded The Flyin' Hawaiians' KMC Wheels Pro-2. With Hoffman on the headset in the stands the KMC Pro-2 was a rocketship around the race course with many in the stands believing one of world's top trophy truck drivers was also incredibly well-versed in his new Pro-2. However, after practice the driver emerged from the driver's seat and as the helmet came off it was discovered that the driver was none other than SuperCross and CORR Champion - Ricky Johnson. That's not to say that Pflueger won't perform at the same level, although Ricky Johnson is...Ricky Johnson.

Hoffman and Johnson discussed potential setup changes to the newly-skinned KMC Wheels Pro-2.

CORR has improved the track tremendously since the last rounds of practice two weeks ago, widening the track and building in some huge banking in turns two and three, as well as the last turn on the track.

Red Bull's Rob MacCachren railed the Barlow Motorsports Pro-2 in the late afternoon and seemed to be back in his old form after several tedious morning practices. Rob Mac pushed the Red Bull Pro-2 around the track not losing time to Scott Douglas and Carl Renezeder who were dualing with each other in their Pro-4's.

The action is set to be off the hook this weekend, so stand by as we bring the happenings from trackside.
