RENEZEDER HITS THE DAILY DOUBLE IN ROUND ONE LOORRS ACTION IN PRIMM

PRIMM, Nevada – (April 6, 2009) It's easy to see why Carl Renezder has won five national titles and 78 features in the world of stadium off road racing. The 45 year old La Guna Beach-California native is a short course racing ace and proved that point April 4th,in Primm-Nevada when he won two races. in the Unlimited 2 and 4 classes, during the official debut of the newly formed Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, LOORRS, presented by Geico Power Sports. The off road series will be presenting round two on Sunday afternoon, April 5th again at the Primm Valley Motorsports Complex, and Renezeder is heavily favored to win another daily double in both divisions. Saturday's performance netted the very popular driver $30,000 courtesy of K&N Performance Filters the series' purse sponsor.

In the Unlimited 2 feature race, a division for full sized two wheel drive race trucks that averages 700 to 900 horsepower, Renezeder spent approximately half of the event chasing down race leader Rodrigo Ampudia. Unfortunately a miscue, coming off of a jump located on the straightaway of the one mile track's dirt mid section, cost the race leader in a huge way. It was all Renezeder needed to make his race winning pass.

One lap later the field was bunched up again due to a yellow flag. Interestingly enough this style of racing utilizes a mandatory caution usually presented by officials at the half way point of the race. The line of thinking here is to make things more interesting for the fans by bringing the field closer together which helps avoid one driver doing a complete run away from the rest of the competitors. This procedure is also known as fan friendly flag.

Under the green flag again, Renezeder made it clear that bringing the field closer to him wasn't going to work. In the closing portion of the race he amassed a full 1.5 second lead by consistently turning in laps in the low 58 second range. Jerry Whelchel and Ampudia joined the race leader on the victory lane podium after finishing second and third. Greg Adler and Robby Woods completed the top five.

In victory lane Renezeder was thrilled with the performance of his recently constructed Lucas Oil Ford and was also happy about getting the first win for new team sponsor General Tire. "Lucas Oil did one heck of a job putting this event on and I feel fortunate that I get to be here living the dream. I can't say enough about my team and my family and the way they support me. The support for this series is phenomenal. If this looks like it's fun that's because it is," the race winner said.

The LOORRS Unlimited 4 Class features full sized four wheel drive race trucks but the field for this particular event also included some two wheel drive teams who chose to compete in the race. Renezeder needed less than five laps to move from third to first and accomplished that feat with some very impressive driving. Going into turn one, Renezeder passed Jerry Daugherty to take over second and then set his sights on race leader Kent Brascho. Renezeder got a powerful run coming out of turn six heading into the backstretch jump known as the table top. He came off of this jump like he had been launched out of a cannon. By the time his wheels touched the dirt again he was door to door even with race leader Brascho heading into turn seven and made his winning move coming out of turn eight.

Following the race's mandatory yellow flag, Renezeder was successful in fending off a late race charge from Travis Coyne. Alan Pflueger joined them on the victory lane podium after finishing third. Kent Brascho was fourth and Greg Adler scored an impressive top five finish in his two wheel drive truck.

After parking in victory lane for the second time, Renezeder said "Two for two today. I have such an awesome team along with strong support from Lucas Oil, General Tire, Team Associated and everybody else who are with us. My crew puts hours and hours of effort, as well as their heart and soul, into this team. Of course there's my family who lets me get out here and do this. The fans are just awesome and I can't thank them enough for coming out here to support what we do."

The high flying Unlimited Lite Division was also a major part of the LOORRS afternoon in Primm. This racing class features mid sized two wheel drive racing trucks that produces 300 horsepower. Rob "Fig" Naughton led the 18 starters under the initial green flag and then led every lap of the race in a dominant performance that had him turning lap times a second faster than the entire field. While Naughton was often racing in his own zip code, there was plenty of wheel to wheel action going on behind him. Chris Brandt passed Casey Currie on the final turn of the final lap to take second. It was a strong comeback for Brant who had to deal with a pair of broken hood pins that caused his hood to slam against the windshield for a brief moment. Brian Deegan and Todd Cuffaro complete the top five.

What made Naghton's win even more impressive was the fact that he had to drive his race truck under dire circumstances. Explaining the situation Naughton said "it's been awhile since I've been on a race track because I shattered my right foot about five weeks ago. All I could think about was I've got to race in five weeks and I am so S-O-L. I had surgery on it and they bolted it back together. It's about ten percent of where it needs to be so there was no way I could drive with it. I drove the race with my left foot only. We have a manual transmission truck so moving your left foot to the right side was a tough task. About halfway through the race I decided to quit using the brake and just kept my left foot on the throttle." When asked if his doctors signed on with this "Fig" laughed and said "absoloutely."

The Super Lite Class, presented by Bully Dog, made its LOORRS debut on this afternoon. This is an affordable entry level class that features a spec racing vehicle powered by a 200 horsepower Mazda Rotary Engine. David Reyes led the starters under the green flag but unfortunately saw his race winning hopes evaporate due to a spin out.Chuck Dempsey took over the command of the race and held the point all the way to the checkers. Chad Leising and John Harrah joined him on the podium after finishing second and third while Johnny Harrah and Kris Hansen rounded out the top five.

The LOORRS Unlimited Buggy Class are open wheel vehicles powered by 1650cc to 1835cc engines with unlimited suspension chassis designs. This class had a whopping 21 starters and put on one terrific show for the fans. Mike Porter and Cody Freeman appeared to be the class of this field and on their way to dueling to the checkers. Amazingly this race winning potential unravelled on lap 10 when both drivers suffered engine failures. Mike Halliday assumed the point briefly but lost the lead after narrowly missing a crash situation. Larry Job now found himself in the lead and made quick work of running out the remaining laps. Chuck Cheek and Larry Foddrill joined him on the podium while Randy Minnier and Halliday completed the top five. After the race the happy winner said he wasn't sure a week ago if he was going to race at Primm. "We actually won in the desert last week on our first time out and now we have our first victory in this series so we're looking pretty good for 2009. We're probably going to run the entire series now," he added.

In Limited Buggy action, open wheel roadsters powered by 1600cc Volkswagon engines, Curt Geer was the class of the 19 car field despite a lap seven miscue that momentarily cost him the lead. But the good news for Geer was the fact that it only took him four side by side laps with Reno Navera to get the lead back and preserve the win. L J Kennedy joined them on the podium after finishing third while Jeff Knupp and Brandon Catello finished fourth and fifth.

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, presented by Geico Power Sports, recognizes the importance of developing their future driving talents and supports special racing divisions for youngsters. The Modified Kart Class features mini race trucks, for drivers10 to 15 years old. that can hit 70 MPH. Sheldon Creed, Trenton Briley and Bradley Morris ran one through three in this event.

The Kart Junior One Class, for ages 8 to 11, was won by Jack Grabowski followed by Sheldon Creed and Jerett Brooks. Keeping it all in the family, Dustin Grabowski won the Kart Junior Two Class, ages 12 to 15, followed by Trent Williams and Maxwell Ries. These small karts are powered by four stroke engines that can hit speeds up to 40 MPH.
