San Diego, California (March 14, 2006)
Less than 20 miles from the start, Andy McMillin experiences mechanical challenges at the San Felipe 250. " I have no idea what happened, we were taking it easy and the transmission just quit. There was no warning at all. We were following the plan and taking it easy for the first part of the race" commented Andy.
The dedicated McMillin chase crew pulled parts from a borrowed transmission to rebuild the broken transmission on the spot. After being down for over 3 hours, Andy finally got on his way.
"We were obviously out of contention for a win, but I wanted to finish no matter what. Transmission, flat tires, or rain it didn't matter, we were determined to finish. We ended up having two more flat tires in the last 50 miles, but we finished within the time limit, exclaimed Andy."
Look for Andy to be competing in the upcoming McMillin 500 CODE race.
