It was a good run for us. I told everybody last night,
we hung with Marty with no brakes and I think they thought
I was lying. Now the brakes are fine and the car is very
fast. Antonio brought us some tires. These guys have all
their rock-hard tires out here yesterday. We brought some
in. We had somebody go to California to the Toyota distributorship
and it made for a good run for us tonight.
I think [the Terrible’s Cup is] good. Obviously,
we got a lot of great fans here. The Herbst boys are stepping
up, SCORE for putting on the event. It kind of lets these
people check out these trucks and how really cool they
are.

[The race] was good. Being out front at the first corner
is good because I don’t think I pulled any tear-offs
or anything so it was good.

The course is a lot nicer tonight. It’s a little
drier, not quite as slick. We’ve been working on
the truck all weekend. Larry [Roeseler] has been hard
to keep up with. He’s been driving real good all
night. I know I got lucky there. It was a good race.
[I feel] pretty pumped up. It was pretty exciting to
beat Larry [Roeseler]. The vehicle is fine. We could do
this all day long. This would be more fun than all get
out to do this every day. No, not really [any problems].
We had a pretty flawless race. I just wanted to kind of
pace myself at first then maybe pick up the pace a little
bit after the track dried out, after they watered it a
bit. But other than that the truck ran great. The guys
did an awesome job of prepping the truck for me. I just
flew in to try to drive on the short course for them.

I’m doing good. Just a little tired. My vehicle
is running pretty good. It took us a while to get it all
mechanically ready. We were out here Wednesday night and
I didn’t even know if we were going to make it.
So I’m really, really happy. I’m just really
stoked I’ve won all three races and I’ve been
doing really, really good being consistent, just having
a good time. I’m stoked!

It was a lot slipperier on the hard-pack today. [The
vehicle is] running good. No problems whatsoever. I really
like the course. It’s a lot more fun for the racers
this year. It’s a good course.

The course got a little rougher so I wasn’t prepared
for that. But the car ran good. It’s a pretty defined
course you just got to run hard the whole time so that
makes it good. With our major performance power pushing
this little buggy around it really runs good. The transmission
really hooks up on the gears. We’ve got a really
good package. I’m really fortunate I’m driving
such a good buggy.

We’ve got an awesome crowd…let’s blow
this place up!

I just like putting on a show for all you people…so
let’s hear it! Right after [Danny Anderson] spun
in the corner, we tagged him and climbed up on top of
him and then he got in front of us again…I just
wanted to hunt him down! [For the main event] we’re
going to go and try to repeat this thing again from last
year! [The track] just keeps getting better. It just keeps
getting worn in so its starting to take rubber, the corners
a little bit harder and building up a cushion so it’s
going to get faster tonight. It doesn’t get any
higher than this. This is beautiful!

I got stuck a lot between gears. It took a while to get
out of gears. That’s how I got around here. We’re
just excited to be here. We can’t wait until the
main. I feel good!

Last year when we did this, I kind of messed up and drove
a little too hard but this weekend went good. I learned
a lot from last year and had a whole year to think about
what I was doing. I tried to redeem myself from last year.
I had to beat my little brother [Cody Freeman], you know!
[Since last year] I learned just a little bit of patient.
I always wanted to go as fast as I could just to pass
everybody as soon as possible. But you have to be patient
and watch out for other drivers. It’s not like desert
racing where you can just pass them right away. So it’s
good. I learned a lot. It’s cool.
[My vehicle] is running awesome. Basically after Laughlin,
I put it in my garage. I was trying to sell the thing.
I just dusted it off and came here. I’m super glad
I did. I just decided Friday to do it.

It was awesome. The track today was way better than last
night, not as much water on the track. It hooked up a
lot better. We’ve been working on the truck all
weekend and got it dialed in a little better. Larry [Roeseler]
came in on me a couple of times when I just had to cool
down a little bit. I got a little anxious there a couple
of times and was overdriving a little bit. I just had
to slow down and concentrate a little harder, just quit
making mistakes, got my head about me and just started
driving my own race and held him off. So here we are,
and that’s good. I’m amped, just so excited
it’s unreal. To race against the caliber of these
guys and come out here and do it is just awesome!

I’m so happy. It took me a long time to get out
here and I’m just really, really excited that I
won tonight. It’s great! I love the course. The
course is fast. It’s got great jumps. I was having
a really, really good time. I’m stoked! This is
only my second off-road race and I’m super pumped!
Class 7SX

It was good. It was really good this race. None of the
corners were as slippery as they were the last race. I
lost my exhaust on about lap three or four and it ended
up being faster with the exhaust off. It was dragging
the whole race. I’m feeling good. We had a lot of
fun out there…a lot of fun!
Class 10
1005 Ron Dalke
I’d be happier with a better win if it wasn’t
so muddy. I did get into it in one of those corners on
the white lap. Racing in the mud is tough. Brakes don’t
work that good. It’s very dark in the back end.
With lights, it would be good but the lights on our car
broke out instantly because there are so many rocks on
this course. It’s dark but it’s doable. It’s
not dusty so you can motor through that corner pretty
good.
The vehicle is running really good. It’s been
running good all weekend. I’ve been trying to get
them all weekend. These are tough competitors. It’s
tough. It’s a tight race.

The track is very cool. It’s very technical but
not because of the obstacles but because of how slippery
it is. So it’s just kind of tough to keep it on
the track. You have to be smart. I wasn’t smart
in the 1600 race. I was 2nd place at the start of the
main and Bryan Freeman was leading. I just decided I was
gonna go for it in the second corner and ended up flipping
my car. I just want to thank everybody for putting this
thing on, the Herbst boys and everybody. It’s cool.
Good times! I just really love the fans.

I’m feeling awesome. Last night was pretty bad.
The first event tonight we finally got racing, and that
main felt great…as well as anything to do with Terrible
Herbst or Las Vegas…you know, I love to win! You
know this is a big deal for me. The vehicle ran great.
It ran flawless. Our only problem earlier was the driver
and luckily the last race that counted, I made it happen.
[The course] is getting really tore up, real dry. But
it’s good. I’m not going to complain.

We got beat up a bit yesterday, but I got be honest,
we came back today. I’ve raced off-road… I
think this year’s SCORE Baja 1000 will be my 23rd
year in Baja. It always feels good to get a little dirty.
It was just a great run tonight for us. I‘m just
really, really happy. I’m happy for the guys at
Red Bull. They set up a tent down here and they had a
bunch of guests, so it’s great to come out and play
in front of all these off-road fans. [The track] was good.
It got pretty rutted out. Toyo brought me great tires.
