Lucerne Valley, CA (May 25, 2008) The California weather played havoc across the Mojave high desert over the last few days, but that didn’t stop nearly 200 racers from taking to the dirt in search of victory at the Mojave Off Road Enterprise’s ORAF 500.
Leading the high-competitive field of 1-2 1600 cars to victory was the bright pink car driven by Joey Westhoff with co-driver, Brittany Sanchez. The 2-seat bright pink 1-2 1600 car recently changed power plants, now running a powerful FAT Performance Racing motor that gave the engaged couple their first win since building the car 16 months ago.
“We always knew this car could win and win big. FOX Racing Shox has worked with us closely in tuning the suspension to the “T” and DFT Transmissions gave us a perfect gear box for this long race. We switched to a FAT Performance Racing motor only two weeks ago because the competition seemed to be running about 8-10 miles an hour faster and now I know why. After running this long race the motor package really held up well and its definitely much faster that anything we ever had before.”

“Brittany and I started the race and ran the first 150-miles before giving the car to a couple guys that have worked very hard on our team, Matt Wasluskas and my dad, Tom Westhoff. They ran the middle section and then Brittany and I got back in for the final 150-mile charge. We won by a full 15-minutes over Lorenzo who’s been very fast over the past couple years. The car ran flawless and we didn’t have any problems at all. Our suspension held up to everything we threw at it and I can tell you that we slayed some bumps out there today. We stoked to win this longest race in the M.O.R.E. Series ever."
Westhoff commended his Dad, Tom Westhoff and Matt Wasluskas, who drove the middle section,"They really ran a great section and gave us a break in the middle of the race to prepare for the final charge. Winning as a team is what this is all about."
