8:48 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Kevin McGillivray #56 just crossed the finish line 4th in Trick Truck, 8th overall unofficially.
  • Tim Rockenbach #1572 right behind McGillivray.
  • Curt Leduc / Todd Leduc 10th 4-wheel vehicle through the finish line with massive damage, they must have rolled hard!
  • Ron Whitton next Trick Truck through the finish line.
  • #1549 of Sam Berry, a 30+ year off road veteran, brought his single seat Vorra car to the finish line in 12th position physically.
  • #1555 of John Harrah through the finish.

8:34 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Steve Croll 3rd class 1500 to cross the line in his Grove Lumber sponsored car.
  • Andy McMillin #31 just across, right behind Croll.
  • Joe Myers / Damen Jeffries come in 4th place in class 1500.

8:24 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Danny Ebberts, who took over the driving duties for his brother Dale Ebberts in their fathers #1546 Fox/BFG Toyota powered Jimco, brought the car across the finish line to capture victory here at the BITD Vegas to Reno.
  • John Gaughn who was leading Class 1500 had a flat 1/4 mile before the finish line.
  • Gaughn may have finished the race physically in front of Ebberts but after corrected time he finished 2nd.

7:40 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Garron Cadiente/Rick Geiser are the first 4-wheel vehicle to cross the finish line physically.
  • Larry Ragland/ Brian Collins crossed the finish line about 6 minutes behind #38 and will most likely take the overall and Trick Truck win by corrected time as they started 15 minutes behind #38 of Cadiente. Ragland told Dirtnewz staff that he has been racing for as long as Garron has been alive and that he is "one fast kid".
  • BJ Baldwin driving his dad's #96 Baldwin Motorsports Trick Truck crashed just before Pit 14 to take them out of the hunt.
  • Mark / Gary Weyhrich confirmed to have broken an axle.

6:47 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Dirtnewz staffers just talked to Steve Melton who was driving the second half in the #1526. Steve told us that he started feeling a vibration at RM 500 and tried to nurse it to the finish but broke down at Weeks, RM 540. Melton says that his crew is on the way, they will try to change the tranny out and finish the race late into the night.
  • #38 Cadiente/Geiser first 4-wheel vehicle through Weeks, Pit 16 @ RM 540.
  • Melton also told us that he passed Gary/Mark Weyhrich who are broken on the course.
  • Ebberts has been on a roll all day, running his 2 seat Toyota powered Jimco hard in the front all the way to the finish.

6:31 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Steve Melton driving the John Herder car pulled into the Dirtnewz pit at Stagecoach with a blown tranny.

6:09 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Mike Childress and Steve Hengeveld captured victory once again today for Team Honda. After taking a win at the BITD Terrible's Town 250 Steve and Mike were on a mission to defend their current points lead and prepare for the upcoming SCORE Baja 1000, that will extend from Ensenada to La Paz, Baja California.
  • Johnny Campbell and Robby Bell were only minutes behind Childress and Hengeveld until they had a flat only 30 miles from the finish. The tire came apart causing the fender, seat and air box to be ripped off the bike. They finished the race in second place.

5:21 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • First through pit #13 @ RM 443.5 : #1526 Herder, #96 Bobby Baldwin, #1588 Gary and Mark Weyhrich, and #38 now driven by Rick Geiser after driver change at Pit 11, RM 390.
  • Bobby Baldwin is raging here near his hometown of Las Vegas, hunting down John Herder.

3:41 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Andy McMillin is broken down in the road at RM 350 with his throttle cable stuck wide open. He had problems with his throttle cable yesterday during time trials and apparently they didn't fix the problem. The SKG/McMillin Homes Chase Truck #1 is hauling out there now to see what the problem is.

3:35 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Garron Cadiente second through Pit 10, about 13 minutes behind Herder.
  • #1588 Gary and Mark Weyhrich right behind Cadiente.
  • Bobby Baldwin next one to fly through Pit 10. Nobody has pit here yet.

3:23 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • John Herder first through Coaldale, Pit 10 @ RM 365.1, did not pit.
  • Helicopters in the dust.

2:45 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Mark McMillin just through Pit #5 @ RM 203.5.
  • Jones still moving but still having some kind of problem with the truck.
  • Vildosola running strong and on a mission to capture a podium finish after a long pit with some obvious problems at Pit #3.

2:34 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Herder first through Tonopah.
  • Pat Dean on the trailer with a blown oil pump, caught it just in time to save the motor.

 

1:46 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Chuck Hovey thru in his ORW/ Fox Racing Shox car.
  • Current Trick Truck running order:
  1. Garron Cadiente
  2. Bobby Baldwin
  3. Andy McMillin
  4. Larry Ragland
  5. Matt Scaroni
  6. Nick Baldwin
  7. Chad Ragland

 

1:30 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Next class 1 is #1572- Tim Rockenbach .
  • Slow quads now intermixed with the top 4 wheel leaders.
  • Young Guns Andy McMillin and Garron Cadiente battle as they near the halfway mark of this race.
  • Damon Jeffries/Joe Meyers in the full throttle car running clean and fast through 238.5 followed by Steve Croll in his #1585 Grove car bumper to bumper.

1:26 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • SMD stopped at RM 235 with Turbo Tom changing a flat tire.
  • John Gaughn in the second Las Vegas Dissemination car through at 1:31.
  • Cadiente and McMiillin are the only Trick Trucks thru 238.5 so far.

 

1:20 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Pat dean thru at 1:23 pm in third position.
  • Rumored Jones is having problems and is slowed.
  • Mark Weyhrich thru 238.5 30 seconds behind Pat Dean.

1:15 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Herder through RM 238.5 in the twisty canyon with Cadiente about 7 miles behind.
  • SMD # 27 driven by Matt Scaroni / Co Dog Turbo Tom having second gear transmission issues according to team owner Steve Scaroni at RM 238.5 now with the DirtNewz crew.

12:45 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Vildosola and MacCachren up and running again at race speed.
  • Herder through RM 204.5 still out front and running hard.
  • Garron Cadiente determined to catch Herder running close behind.

12:38 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Chad Ragland, Brian Collins, and Curt Leduc just through Pit #4, all running strong and close to each other.

12:28 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • After leading over 100 miles of the race, Gus Vildosola and Rob MacCachren are still stopped in the pits. John Herder, who has led and won back to back BITD races, is running hard out front doing everything it takes in order to take home another win here at the 10th anniversary of the BITD Vegas to Reno Race.

12:11 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • John Herder is the first one through Pit #4 at RM 155, did not pit and taking advantage of the clean air.
  • Second into the pits is Vildolsola/MacCachren who stopped to pit and are still in the pit's with an apparent problem.
  • #38 Garron Cadiente stopped to pit and flew by Vildosola/MacCachren, moving him into second position.
  • Jones next through RM 155 - did not pit, one minute behind Cadiente.
  • Pat Dean comes into the pits and moves into 4th position, passing Vildosola who is still in the pits.
  • Steve Croll also passes the #4 Mexicana Logistics Truck while in the pits.
  • Mark Wehyrich running hard behind Croll.
  • Bobby Baldwin is on a mission to catch the leaders as he was raging at RM 155.
  • Heavy silt in the pits.

12:00 pm BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Brian Collins through RM 107 running in the second pack.
  • Matt Scaroni catching up to the leaders after having some difficulties during Time Trials yesterday.
  • Andy McMillin looks like he has moved up a few positions and is still running strong.

 


11:50 am BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Rob MacCachren/Vildolsola leading the hungry pack through pit #3 at RM 132.9 by a mere 1.22 seconds over Herder.
  • John Herder, in his single seat Jimco, is only 48 seconds in front of Garron Cadiente.
  • Jesse Jones in his #1 Fabtech/ Toyo Tires Trick Truck is running 3 minutes behind Cadiente.
  • Bobby Baldwin moving up with the leaders, only a few minutes behind Jesse Jones/Jeff Quinn.

    11:30 am BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Class 10's are just going through Pit #1 at RM 36, running order is as follows:

  2. Ken Tapert
  3. Keith Hughes

11:18 am BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Ron Whitton #39 through RM 78.
  • The second pack of drivers are about 20 miles behind the leaders.
  • Second pack led by Andy McMillin, Brian Collins and Matt/David Scaroni
  • Leaders just through RM 107.

9:55 am BITD Vegas to Reno: Race Update

  • Rob MacCachren / Vildolsola, John Herder, Garron Cadiente and Jesse Jones running hard through the first 35 miles. Word from the pits is that there will be no chance of passing in the first 50 miles.
  • Top 9 qualifiers all running hard and in a pack together, nobody making any moves to pass.
