Pomona, California
August 16-17, 2008

Rounds 9 & 10

LAKE FOREST, CA (August 18, 2008) – “The best thing about this weekend is that it’s over,” commented Carl Renezeder after another tough weekend of racing at the LA Fairplex in Pomona, California.  But, it wasn’t without some success, finishing third in both the Pro-2 and Pro-4 divisions on Sunday, salvaging some valuable points for the championship chases.

Renezeder opened the weekend with a great qualifying effort Saturday morning with the pole in Pro-4 and third in Pro-2.  With the invert draws he started on the front row in both races, and then it basically went downhill from there.  In his Lucas Oil Pro-2, a rock took out his radio and mud muncher early in the race, so he managed only an eighth place finish.  The Pro-4 race started out well but contact with Todd LeDuc just before the mandatory yellow brought out the black flag for Renezeder, putting him to the back of the pack on the restart.  He worked his way back up to fifth, but the motor let go with a few laps remaining, relegating him to a tenth place finish in his Lucas Oil/Skyjacker Pro-4.

Sunday started out well and finished the same.  After three laps of qualifying in both trucks, Renezeder qualified third in Pro-2 and Pro-4.  The Pro-2 race was mostly uneventful, and after inverting the top eight starters, he worked his way up to a third place finish.  The Pro-4 race had several great laps of racing, then Carl got spun out twice in turn five, forcing him to work his way back through the field on two separate occasions during the 18-lap race.  Again, he managed a third place finish, picking up some much-need championship points.

The team will take a break in the CORR action and head back to the Midwest over Labor Day weekend for the closing rounds of the WSORR series in Crandon, Wisconsin – the Mecca of short-course off-road racing.
