Collins earns 2nd straight Overall, SCORE Trophy-Truck Victory Saturday at 23rd Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250

SAN FELIPE, Mexico—Second-generation veteran Las Vegas desert racer Brian Collins roared through the rugged trails and washes of Mexico’s Baja California desert Saturday, earning his second straight overall and SCORE Trophy-Truck victory in the No. 12 Collins Motorsports Mopar Dodge Ram1500 at the 23rd Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 desert race.
Round 2 of the 2009 SCORE Desert Series was held in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico, along the shores of the picturesque Sea of Cortez.
Setting a blistering pace right from the start in San Felipe and driving solo, he covered the sandy, silty, rocky and dusty 232.4-mile course in just three hours, 47 minutes, 49 seconds, averaging a stellar 61.21 miles per hour.

ROCKSTAR'S Post & MacCachren Ready to Rock at San Felipe

San Felipe, Baja California (March 13, 2009) Mark Post and Rob MacCachren spent the early morning in final prerunning Saturday’s big race. Both Post and MacCachren are ready for the race that they have both won in the past. In 2008, they finished second to Brian Collins who won his first San Felipe 250. At noon today the two Rockstar’s made their way down the Malecon’ as the Rockstar Energy Drink girls led Riviera Racing down the main drag in front of thousands of fans. The #3 Rockstar/Riviera Racing Trophy Truck pushed slowly through the crowds as Mark Post and Rob MacCachren signed autographs and met with the crowds.

Ready to Rock at San Felipe

Rob MacCachren is slated to start the race and run full speed ahead through Zoo Road as the racing world has never seen before. While many other teams are worried about shock temperatures, the #3 Riviera truck has overcome the shock temperature problems over the past few years. So, the #3 Trophy Truck will not be holding anything back as they make their way north in the Mexican desert. With Rob MacCachren behind the wheel of the race truck you can be sure it’s going to be a show!

Ballastic BJ Baldwin Leads
the PARADE in San Felipe

San Felipe, Baja California (March 13, 2009) Wearing the #1 champions number proudly on the side of the all black trophy truck, Ballastic BJ Baldwin paraded his badazz looking trophy truck down the Malecon in the middle of the afternoon. They finished contingency and tech and moved back to the hotel where BJ is preparing to test his truck for the last time here shortly. The 2008 SCORE Trophy Truck Champion smiled as he drove his truck through the throngs of people smiling and waving to his fans.

Terrible Herbst 2009 Trophy Truck Has Yet to Arrive in San Felipe

San Felipe, Baja California (March 13, 2009) As of noon on Friday, the Terrible Herbst jet black Monster Energy trophy truck has yet to arrive here at the San Felipe contingency. The new trophy truck was tested on Wednesday afternoon and evening in Barstow, California as the shock package was dialed in by FOX Racing Shox John Marking and Todd Tenbroek.

Ed Herbst rolled the truck slightly in his first run in the truck, but not enough to damage the frame of the truck. The body hangers and fiberglass were scratched and battered, but the remainder of the truck was all good. The suspension of the truck was dialed in and the new black truck is expected to perform on Saturday morning.

DIRTnewz along with many media types are all waiting for the debut of the truck. Rumor is the truck will arrive sometime this afternoon to the El Cortez and be readied for a late contingency.

Warm Weather Basks Racers Beachside in San Felipe

San Felipe, Baja California (March 13, 2009) A few thousand fans came to contingency on the Malecon’ of San Felipe as the sun brazed off road racing desert fans and racers during the 2009 SCORE San Felipe edition of contingency and technical inspection. The light crowd and low amount of race teams definitely put another exclamation point on the bleak economic situation that the United States is now facing. The fans that did come to Mexico for the race enjoyed the finest weather and the Rockstar Energy Drink models who treated the off road racing world to some entertainment. A slight breeze and near perfect temperatures rocked this beachside fishing village as SCORE kicked off their first of three Mexican races.

San Felipe Carnage Claims Top Teams Prerunners

San Felipe, Baja California (March 13, 2009) Ed Herbst and Mark Post teamed up together in their two prerunner trucks to tackle the southern half of this year's SCORE San Felipe 250 race. Together with co-drivers and chase crews the two black prerunners, the Herbst prerunner blazened with Monster Energy and the Riviera Racing prerunner plastered with Rockstar Energy Drink, blasted off into the San Felipe desert.

It wasn't long before a race broke out! In fact, as they left the El Cortez Hotel it was destined to be a long day.

San Felipe, Baja California (March 11, 2009) The seaside fishing village of San Felipe, Baja California has been reformed into race headquarters as the top American off road desert racers have converged to this small beach resort town for this year’s SCORE San Felipe 250.

Monster Energy’s Robby Gordon and Rockstar’s Rob MacCachren are two marquee racers in a select group of potential winners this year.

Gordon is fresh off his season-opening victory at the Laughlin Desert Challenge and MacCachren returns to the San Felipe desert in the Rockstar Riviera trophy truck. MacCachren spent the first half of the day weaving together his lines from the previous days prerunning before turning his attention to the remainder of the race course.

LOS ANGELES • February 11, 2009 —Many of the world’s top desert racers are expected to be entered in time for Saturday’s computerized start draw for next month’s 23rd Annual Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 desert race. With the drawing being held at the SCORE International headquarters in Los Angeles, the race itself will be held March 13-15 along the Sea of Cortez in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico.

Real-Time Tracking Device Not Mandatory At This Event

LOS ANGELES • February 3, 2009 – Continuing its previously announced commitment to help reduce racing costs this year, SCORE International has announced additional cost-saving measures prior to next month’s 23rd Annual Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250, to be held March 13-15 in San Felipe. The measures are designed to make the popular Sea of Cortez race more affordable.

As previously announced at the conclusion of the 2008 championship series, SCORE will keep entry fees at the same level as last year. Furthermore, after consulting with authorities in Mexicali and San Felipe, SCORE has decided to run the same 232 mile course as last year. This will require less pre- running time and provide familiar logistics to race teams.
