338 - Trouble at 187 km...
Several competitors have found themselves in trouble at the 187-km point of the day’s special stage, where the route follows a dry river bed, in particular current leader of the production standings and title holder, Frenchman Nicolas Gibon (Toyota), who rolled his car at a slow speed and is now carrying out repairs in order to get back on the special stage.

The first 3 trucks have completed 148 km of the day’s special and still Russian Vladimir Chagin (Kamaz) is in the lead, 48" ahead of Frenchman Joseph Adua (Iveco) and 1’28 in front of his team-mate and countryman Firdaus Kabirov (Kamaz).

303 - A stage victory for Sainz at last!
The leader of the 32nd edition of the Dakar since the 5th special, Spaniard Carlos Sainz (VW) was despairing somewhat at his lack of special stage victories this year. However, now the problem has been solved! With a time of 3.01:05 “El Matador” picked up the 16th special stage triumph of his Dakar career and his 1st this year, 28" ahead of Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel (BMW) and 1’02 in front of his American team-mate Mark Miller (VW).

303 - Sainz gains 1’40 over Al-Attiyah
The first two cars have finished the day’s special and the leader of the general standings, Spaniard Carlos Sainz (VW), still boasts the best provisional time, 1’40 ahead of his main rival for the title, Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah (VW), who now trails Sainz by 10’06 in the general standings.

With the first 8 cars through the 192-km point on the day’s special, once again the leader of the general standings, Spaniard Carlos Sainz (VW), has achieved the best provisional time, 27" ahead of Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel (BMW) and 29" in front of American Mark Miller (VW). His main rival in the fight for the title, Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah (VW), currently occupies 5th place, 1’36 behind the Spaniard.

Now that the first 4 quads have finished the day’s timed section, Spaniard Juan Manuel Gonzalez Corominas (Yamaha) has achieved the best provisional time, meaning he has a first triumph on the Dakar, 8’27 ahead of the general standings leader, Argentinean Marcos Patronelli (Yamaha), and 9’08 in front of another Argentinean, Sebastian Halpern (Yamaha).

The first 5 cars have now completed 148 km of the day’s special and it is American Mark Miller (VW) who has put in the best provisional time, 7" ahead of his Spanish team-mate and general standings leader, Carlos Sainz (VW), and 29" in front of Frenchman Stephane Peterhansel (BMW), the new 3rd-place driver.

500 - THE TRUCKS ARE ON THEIR WAY!
The winner of yesterday’s 9th stage, Russian Firdaus Kabirov (Kamaz) kicked off proceedings of the day’s trucks special at 11.17, as scheduled, and was followed 2 minutes later by the general standings leader, his team-mate and countryman Vladimir Chagin (Kamaz). Due to the narrow and winding nature of the day’s route, the organisers decided that the cars and trucks should start separately for safety reasons, especially when overtaking.

The winner of the 9th stage and as a result the first driver to start the day’s special, Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah (VW) currently trails his main rival for the title, Spanish team-mate Carlos Sainz (VW) by 1’30 after 100 km of the day’s special stage.

The first 7 cars have now completed 100 km of the day’s special, and whilst Sainz (VW) has achieved the best time, 2" ahead of Miller, Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel (BMW) now occupies provisional 3rd place, 45" behind the Spanish leader of the general standings.

More bikes have finished the day’s special stage, amongst them the 450cc Yamaha belonging to David Frétigné. 13th to start this morning, the Frenchman has achieved the 2nd best time of the day, 2’06 behind the provisional winner, Spaniard Marc Coma (KTM).

The first 4 cars have just completed 100 km of the day’s special and although the leader of the general standings, Carlos Sainz (VW), is still out in front, the Spaniard only has a 2 second lead over his American team-mate Mark Miller (VW). The third best provisional time goes to Frenchman Guerlain Chicherit (BMW), 1’17 behind the stage leader.

Five more bikers have finished the 10th special stage and whilst Spaniard Marc Coma (KTM) still has the best provisional time, the new 2nd and 3rd placed riders are Portugal’s Helder Rodrigues (Yamaha) and Ruben Faria (KTM), 2’36 and 3’56 respectively behind the title holder.

The first 8 quads have completed 148 km of the day’s special and Spaniard Juan Manuel Gonzalez Corominas (Yamaha) is still out in front, but with leads of 3’29 and 5’48 respectively over the Argentineans Marcos Patronelli (Yamaha) and Sébastian Halpern (Yamaha).

As a result, now that the first 10 cars have completed 42 km of the day’s special, “El Matador” boasts the best provisional time, 20" ahead of his American team-mate Mark Miller (VW) and 32" in front of Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel (BMW).

The comfortable leader of the general standings and already winner of 3 special stages on the 32nd Dakar, Argentinean Marcos Patronelli (Yamaha) leads after 42 km of the day’s special now that the first 3 quads have made it through this distance, 1’09 ahead of his countryman Sebastian Halpern (Yamaha) and 1’51 in front of Polish rider Rafal Sonik (Yamaha).

Now that the first 11 bikes have completed 42 km of the day’s special, Portugal’s Ruben Faria (KTM) has achieved the 3rd best time, 23" behind the stage leader, his countryman, Helder Rodrigues (Yamaha), but 22" ahead of Spaniard Marc Coma (KTM).

The winner of the 9th special yesterday, Frenchman Christophe Declerck (Polaris), who started in 35th place of the bike/quad pack, kicked off proceedings for the 10th quad special at 7.50:30, as scheduled. He was followed 1’30 later by Argentinean Alejandro Patronelli (Yamaha), who started in 38th place of the bike/quad pack.

Hello and welcome to everybody. After the 9th stage yesterday, 206 crews - 93 bikes, 14 quads, 64 cars and 35 trucks – were authorised to start the 10th stage this morning. The stage 9 winner, Spaniard Marc Coma (KTM) kicked off proceedings for the day’s special at 7.15, as scheduled. The Title holder was followed two minutes later by the leader of the general standings, Frenchman Cyril Despres (KTM).

ETAPE 10: LA SERENA - SANTIAGO
586 km are on the menu for the 10th stage of the 32nd Dakar, including a timed section of 238 kilometres in which the competitors will bid farewell to the Atacama and say hello to a more technical, bending and undulating route that winds through the fine landscapes of the mountains. It will be a tricky special, where competitors must be especially careful of the vegetation and in particular the many cactuses dotted over the route.
