LAS VEGAS—Menzies Motorsports of Las Vegas, Nevada rolled into the new Lucas Oil Off Road track at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and debuted the 2010 version of the ‘Big Red Machine’ earning a whopping 5 podiums in the first race weekend of the season.
Leading the charge was Bryce Menzies racing in the Blanco Basura/Bully Dog Unlimited 2 pro race truck featuring Kroyer Racing power, FOX Racing Shox and BFGoodrich Tires. Churning up the dirt of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the cool and calm Bryce Menzies diced on the track with the nation’s top professionals before ending the weekend with two top five finishes. Consistency is the name of this game and Bryce is well on his way towards an Unlimited 2 season championship.
The weekend’s racing standout was Justin “Bean” Smith who dominated in the Limited Buggy class with a pair of second place finishes in the ever so competitive Limited Buggy class. Teammate, Toby Bost, raced for the first time in the Menzies Motorsports Limited Buggy and after a weekend of seat time he is ready for the next race at Surprise, Arizona.
Unlimited Buggy racers, Cameron Steele and Larry Job, drove the ranked Menzies Alumi Craft buggies through the huge field of competitors and both earned top three positions. In Sunday’s Round 2, Cameron Steele dominating the entire race as he and racer, Doug Fortin, battled back and forth before Fortin sprinted past Steele taking the checkered flag. While Steele was initially disappointed he earned important season series points towards a potential season championship for the popular action sports Television Commentator. Vegas based racing veteran, Larry Job, finished right behind Cameron Steele putting both Menzies Motorsports Unlimited Buggies on the podium.
Rounds 1 and 2 were held at the new constructed and impressive 6,000-seat purpose-built facility on the grounds of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a race course that will no doubt become the home track for Menzies Motorsports.
Team Owner Steve Menzies commented, “We had a solid first weekend and I’m looking forward getting to Speedworld in Arizona where we have really performed well. The entire team really worked hard over the past month and we demonstrated that on the track. We are excited about the debut of our new Unlimited Pro 4 in rounds 3 and 4. The ‘Big Red Machine’ is rolling and we have plans to win some championships this year.”
Menzies Motorsports wasted no time and immediately left Las Vegas for the SCORE San Felipe 250 where Bryce Menzies is putting in significant seat time prerunning in preparation of taking delivery of their new Geiser-built Trophy Truck, which they will race at the upcoming SNORE MINT 400.
In addition to a new Unlimited Pro 4 and the new Geiser Trophy Truck, the beginning of the 2010 season has been a whirlwind of activity as Menzies Motorsports has joined forces with new marketing partners all supporting the championship winning race team.
“We couldn’t grow without the support of all our sponsors. It’s been quite a ride over the past two months working towards building the 2010 sponsor team and we are excited about moving forward into 2010. I have to thank all of our partners for their support,” said Menzies.
