John Marking received PINK Ribbon of the day award along with Casey Currie for bonehead moves of the day.
Marking because his brand new 650XR would not start at the beginning and he had to borrow another bike. However, Johnny Campbell saved the day when at Horsepower Ranch, he fixed Marking's new motor with parts Marking stashed in the Dirtnewz/Racin' Dirty Media truck.

As the Rip to the Tip crew arrived to Horsepower Ranch we met Rodrigo Ampudia who told us he was joining the group tonight at cantina. Ampudia took his moto to the Horsepower Ranch moto cross track and after a few minutes of riding he and OX - Jeff Cargola were ripping it up when Ampudia caught a deep rut and crashed breaking his leg. Rip crew and OX got Ampudia in a van to Horsepower Ranch and Rip Paramedics discovered protruding bone from his left leg as Ampudia screamed in pain. Rip Chase crew kingpin - Brian Godfrey and crew loaded Ampudia into another vehicle and rushed him to Ensenada Hospital. No other news as that has just happened in the last 30 minutes. Massive rain storm attack Baja today as the Rip Ride kicked off from Tecate in the storm. Rain, sleet, snow and hail up over the top of the North Baja mountains today and all 31 riders all good led Johnny Campbell. Campbell arrived this morning to lead the group on the first day of this 8-day adventure down the Baja Peninsula

FOX Racing Shox John Marking was the first drama of the day as his brand new Honda 650XR would not start as the day kicked off but coming to the rescue was JCR Kingpin, Johnny Campbell, who kicked it over only to discover that the new bike has a probably major issue. Marking was offered another bike off the trailer and jumped at the chance and rode Mark Bradford's second bike. Marking is all smiles here at Horsepower Ranch and is waiting to determine if they can fix his bike. The bike was transported to Horsepower Ranch where JCR mechanics are hoping to fix the bike for FOX Kingpin - John Marking.

All the Fresh Fish riders performed excellent today in the difficult conditions and there is no doubt that the Rip may see the most ever Full Pull complete rides in its history.
Joining the group today was the Baja Racing Champion, Johnny Campbell, JCR Honda, who led the group in a afternoon prayer as we left and led the group through trails of Northern Baja.
OX ripped the trail today and was first into Horsepower Ranch where he gave a full report to everyone anticipating the group's arrival.
Riding for the first time EVER in Baja was Casey Currie on his Monster Energy Kawasaki and he ripped the trail and told us upon his arrival that it was perhaps the best ever day of motorcycle riding he's ever had. Currie, a national short course and ATV racer, backed by Monster Energy was ear to ear smiles as the rain drenched Horsepower Ranch as the riders arrived.

31 riders crossed the border and entered into Mexico's territory and headed towards El Compadre Trail where each rider was tested by the deep mud, sleeting rain and snow along the normally easy trail.
Led by Cameron Steele the Monster Energy back Rip to the Tip is well underway and the only drama was the weather and the arrival to Horsepower Ranch. Rodrigo Ampudia, an off road racer from Ensenada, met the group here at Horse Power Ranch and while on the motocross track he broke his left leg and the men from the Rip to the Tip saved him and got him loaded into a van to the Ensenada Hospital.
Ampudia was screaming in pain on the porch of Horsepower Ranch as the Rip Riders took care of business and got the desert and short course racer to the hospital.
