Donner, California - Rock Runner Racing arrived in Donner, California for the last event of WE Rock’s Western Nationals series standing second after three events.  Despite mechanical issues, the team secured second place in the series standings for the Pro Modified class for the second year in a row.  Rock Runner Racing placed sixth in the event after electrical failure required them to rewire their entire Twisted Customs YJ during the competition.

“We never have any problems with our sponsors’ parts… I guess we need to find a wiring harness sponsor!” joked driver Brian Errea.  Rock Runner Racing noted that they had no issues with their Fox shocks, Mastercraft seats, Spidertrax axles, Trailready rims, or BFGoodrich Krawler tires.  “These are parts that we have been using for years” commented spotter Joachim Schwiesow.  As a testament to the durability of the components they run, Schwiesow campaigns the same Twisted Customs YJ buggy in the Xtreme Rock Racing Association (XRRA) that the team uses in WE Rock.  “Most vehicles are used for either rockcrawling or rock racing, not both” Schweisow explained.  “Our Twisted Customs buggy was built with parts that allow it to do anything and everything.”

The Western Nationals season finale was held at Donner Ski Ranch in front of approximately 2000 fans on each day of competition.  Live webcam and radio updates were provided my Pirate4x4.com, and additional media representing DirtSports magazine, Crawl magazine, and WickedMag.com were also in Donner to capture the action.  Errea and Schwiesow kept an upbeat attitude in the face of adversity that would overwhelm less experienced teams.  The duo was able to still qualify for the Shootout at the end of the event and tied for second place in the Western Nationals.  This is the second year in a row that Rock Runner Racing has placed second overall in the WE Rock Western Nationals.  This year the finish was particularly sweet, considering the Pro Modified class swelled to 19 competitors.  “Now we just need to defend our Grand Nationals title” Errea declared, referring to Rock Runner Racing’s back-to-back wins at the last two WE Rock Grand Nationals.  The 2008 Grand Nationals will be held in Hannibal, Missouri on September 5-7th.  For more information on Rock Runner Racing contact team owner George Wadeson at rockrunnerracing@rushmore.com.
