The Speed Technologies/Bully Dog team runs wide open in CA.

AMERICAN FALLS, ID (July 28, 2009) The Speed Technologies team sponsored by Bully Dog rolled into the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex last week with a lot on their plate. The last time the team raced in California, Unlimited 2 driver, Jeff Ward brought home an amazing victory. The team was hoping to carry the momentum into this past weekend’s race. And while there was a lot of momentum the team also suffered a bit as one of the team’s lead drivers, Chuck Dempsey was sidelined from the racing action as he recovers from a sever compound fracture to his right foot, the result of a violent crash last time we raced in Elsinore.

Each and every Lucas Off Road Race Series race on Saturday night was full of excitement, however the SuperLite race really made an impact and was of great accomplishment for the team. John Harrah checked out on the rest of the field as the green flag dropped each and every lap the lead extended. The team’s newest driver, youngster Dawson Kirchner started in the pack of the pack however by midway through the race he was running in the top five, when the racing resumed after the mandatory caution havoc ensued. John Harrah went over onto his roof while Dawson battled hard pushing towards the front. When the green flag dropped Dawson finished in second place in only his 3rd race.

In the Unlimited 2 race Jeff Ward started on the front row and had a great run and a number of action packed scuffles including an intense fight for third place with Rodrigo Ampudia but had to settle for a finishing spot just off the podium. In the Unlimited Lite class John Harrah and the crew are still working on the set up of the new Jimco chassis that made its debut last race. Each and every time in the truck John gets faster and finished in the top 10 Saturday night.

Sunday night brought another exciting night of racing and another podium for them team as John Harrah ran an amazing race in the SuperLite class. Maybe fueled by the roll over on Saturday, John drove maybe his best race of the season. He fought back and forth with Ricky James for first place, lap after lap the two swapped fastest laps of the race. At the checker flag John had to settle for second place. While some might see that as a disappointment for the series point’s leader it was just the opposite. In speaking to John immediately following the race it became evident that he had just run one his favorite races and one where he came off the track learning a few new things.

After this weekends race, members of the Speed Technologies/Bully Dog team are sitting at the top of the points in a number of classes. With Mitchell DeJong in the top 5 of the Modified Karts class, John Harrah atop the points in SuperLite and Jeff Ward sitting in a close battle for the points lead in Unlimited 2. The team has a long break until the next race in Arizona, however the desert racing picks up in just a few short weeks with the Vegas to Reno, BITD race.
