With 2012 just around the corner, the 2011 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) wrapped up its final races this past weekend at the Firebird Raceway in Chandler, AZ. With the 2 biggest races of the year, for LOORRS, Saturday’s race would be round 15, the last point’s race of the year and the last chance for the LOORRS Championship hunt. Following this would be an all or nothing race to the checker, The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series CUP Race. Up and coming driver in Short Couse Justin “Bean” Smith would showcase his skills in the Pro-Buggy vs Pro-Lite race where top 3 finishers walk away with a combined purse of $35,000.
Rob MacCachren came to Firebird International Raceway for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) season finale looking to add a sixth win in the 15 round series. He qualified third on Friday, putting him on the second row for Saturday’s last points race of the season. Rob Mac was out front in the ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck and set the fast lap for the race. He was well on his way to yet another victory when Brian Deegan dove under MacCachren in Turn 3 late in the race and put Rob on his roof. Deegan was black flagged for his actions and moved to the back of the pack, but the damage had been done and Rob limped around the track to finish mid-pack. Rob Mac’s five victories in Pro2 Unlimited are more than any other competitor, but incidents like Saturday’s resulted in some uneven finishes this season that caused MacCachren to finish second in points.

Santee, CA | Alumi Craft racers put in a dominating performance at the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, (LOORRS) season finale. Several championships still hung in the balance going into the final race at Phoenix, AZ’s Firebird raceway. If that wasn’t enough, the Challenge Cup race on Sunday would put multiple classes together on the track at the same time with nothing to lose, a recipe for non-stop action to say the least.
Anaheim Hills, CA (December 14, 2011) – Casey Currie and his Monster Energy General Tire Nissan would make their final stop of the Lucas Oil Off-Road season this weekend at Arizona’s Firebird Speedway. Entering this final round 5th in Championship points, Casey set out to end this season with a bang. Casey drove with full head and heart in the game finishing Saturday’s race in 4th place, and landing a coveted 3rd place podium finish in Sunday’s Pro Lite/Buggy Cup.
Riverside, California (December 14, 2011) -Rob Naughton stood on top of the short course off road racing world, joined on the podium by Stronghold Motorsports teammate Jeremy McGrath as the duo took first and third place overall in the 2011 Lucas Oil Challenge Cup. December 11th, Firebird Raceway in Chandler, Arizona became the epicenter of off road racing as the superstars of the sport converged to compete for the annual all star event that combines classes, normally run separately throughout the season, racing head to head. Twenty six trucks formed the grid for the day's main event, matching Naughton and McGrath's two wheel drive 900 horsepowered Unlimited trucks against their four wheel drive counterparts. Also in the field, XGames/RallyX gold medalist, Liam Doran who had recovered from a crash in an earlier qualifying session to earn a position in the elite group.
The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) season came to a close last weekend at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Arizona. Challenge Cup Finishes Season With A Bang

Now that the 2011 regular season is over, there is only one day of racing left this year for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, presented by GEICO, and for many, it's the day they look forward to most. That's right, it's the Lucas Oil Challenge Cup, the day when points aren't on offer, but cash and bragging rights are. With lots of money up for grabs, as well as the two unique, once-a-year "class vs. class" races, it was no wonder that fans flocked in and filled the stands here at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, AZ. These races are the ones which, perhaps more than any other, all the drivers want to win, and everyone has their own strategy on how to pull off a victory. One thing is for sure, though: nobody shows anyone any mercy in these races, and the infields and hot pits are invariably filled with broken, mangled, and immobile trucks and buggies by race's end. These races are the hardest ones to win, and anyone who comes out on top can say they've accomplished something truly special.

CHANDLER, AZ (December 12, 2011) – It’s only fitting that the guy who drives with the heart of a champion is not only the winningest driver in the short-course, off-road world, but now has the most national titles of any short-course driver in the history of the sport. The 2011 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing season hosted Carl Renezeder’s phenomenal run to his eighth championship, where he finished on the podium 14 out of 15 races, with three wins, nine seconds, two thirds and one fourth.
Phoenix, Arizona (December 11, 2011) - As the season comes full circle, the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, presented by GEICO, is back at Firebird International Raceway for the final weekend of the 2011 season. Only one regular season round was left to determine the 2011 champions of ten out of our eleven classes, so the drivers in those points battles had it all to do today. All the other drivers had their own motivation as well, as any driver worth anything would want to bring home a win in the last race of the regular season, and there was no denying the tension in the air or the ferocity of competition here today. This is a great track, with a couple of unique features that we don't see anywhere else, like the challenging step-up jump into turn four (for the adult classes only), and the multi-line "either/or" section, where drivers have two lines to choose from, between turns four and five. The stands were packed and the weather was great, as was the racing, so if you couldn't be here, you really missed out.
Temecula, CA (December 08, 2011) - Mitchell DeJong cleaned house during the 2011 Lucas Oil Off-Road Arizona Regional Series (ASCC) by clinching his 7th career championship in only 5 years. With 4 wins and 2 second place finishes, Mitchell showed the world that the #1 plate belongs on the TRAXXAS/Red Bull DeJong SuperKart.
Mitchell commented on the season, "I had a BLAST racing the ASCC series. The organization, fans and racers were all genuine and kept it fun!"
Mitchell DeJong wins Round 14 of Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series
Mitchell will now head to Phoenix, Arizona this weekend for the season finally of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORRS) where he will make a final charge at a back-to-back Kart Modified championship. It would be his 8th career season triumph at only age 14.
Rialto, CA (December 8, 2011) - Chad George heads to Firebird Raceway for the final round of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series with his #42 Kawasaki/Yokohama SuperLite leading the points championship. In a triple threat weekend, Chad will also pilot his #1 Monster Energy Kawasaki UTV Unlimited toward his 10th podium of the season and charge the new #42 Abu Dhabi Unlimited/Bull BBQ/Traxxas ProLite Unlimited toward his very first class victory.
COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA DECEMBER 6, 2011 - Chris Brandt #82 BFGoodrich / Toyota Pro Lite Unlimited Truck will be at the final round of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series in Phoenix, Arizona at Firebird Raceway this Saturday, December 10th. With 12 podium finishes Brandt has lead the points all season but fell 3 points behind Brian Deegan after the last Las Vegas rounds. “This weekends race is the last chance to determine the series champion. With only 3 points separating Deegan and I, you know it will be the must see race of the season!” said Chris Brandt.
LAKE FOREST, CA (December 7, 2011) – It’s the time of year to deck the halls, hang the stockings, be merry and bright, and, oh yeah, throw some dirt, fly through the air and chase a few trophies. I can guaranty that when 8-time national champion, Carl Renezeder, goes to sleep on the eve of the final race weekend of the Lucas Oil Off Road season, sugar plumbs will be replaced by step-up jumps and double-apex turns as the things that will be dancing through his head. In a perfect world, Renezeder will sweep the weekend, leaving Chandler, Arizona with the Pro-4 championship, 100 career short-course wins and over $30,000 in winnings.
At the end of another year of racing, Rob MacCachren has racked up five wins in fourteen rounds of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS). Perhaps even more impressive is that LOORRS is only one of three series that MacCachren competes in. He was also victorious at three TRAXXAS The Off Road Championship (TORC) races and had two wins (in only five races) in SCORE desert racing. Still, perhaps the most important race of the year is yet to come. “This is the biggest pay day in short course,” MacCachren noted of the Lucas Oil Challenge Cup, “and I want my piece of it.” $30,000 is on the line as Rob pits the No. 1 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck not only against his normal Pro2 Unlimited competition, but the Pro4 Unlimited 4WD trucks are on the same course as well. MacCachren is no stranger to cup races, having won three Borg Warner Cups during his prestigious short course career.
Round 15 - Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series December 10, 2011
Lucas Oil Challenge Cup - December 11, 2011
Firebird Raceway - Chandler, Arizona
Corona, California (December 8, 2011) - This weekend, December 10th& 11th, the superstars of short course off road racing will descend upon Firebird Raceway in Chandler Arizona to settle the season championship picture and battle for their share of the largest combined purse in short course off road racing; the Lucas Oil Challenge Cup. As the most prestigious event in the sport, the Lucas Oil Challenge Cup combines classes, normally run separately throughout the season, racing head to head with over $100,000 on the line. But, before Sunday's all out assault on Firebird Raceway's purpose built, short course off road battleground, one crucial opportunity remains for teams to capture coveted season titles.
Riverside, California (December 6, 2011) - Stronghold Motorsports is headed to Phoenix, Arizona's Firebird Raceway to stake its claim on the largest cumulative purse in off road racing; The Lucas Oil Challenge Cup. For the Stronghold team boasting a lineup that has claimed twelve podiums through fourteen rounds of racing this season, the December 11th event represents the pursuit of a tremendous payday in a unique no holds barred all-star format.
The latest Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) short course action took place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend as the race community paid their final respects to Pro4 Unlimited competitor Rick Huseman. Huseman’s life was cut short three weeks ago in a small plane crash that also took his brother Jeff and friend Danny Hicks. Many teams were running No. 36 stickers on their trucks to honor Huseman, including reigning Pro2 Unlimited champion Rob MacCachren.
Seventeen Pro2 Unlimited trucks entered the track on Saturday as the sun set on a beautiful day in Las Vegas. Rob Mac started on the second row in the ROCKSTAR Energy / BFGoodrich Tires / MasterCraft Safety truck, putting him in the thick of the action on the longest LOORRS track in the series. Rob battled Robby Woods and fellow ROCKSTAR Energy athlete Brian Deegan for second place throughout the race, eventually besting both adversaries. MacCachren even moved up to dive inside of the race leader on the final turn but bicycled in a rut; only his considerable skill and some help from the BFGoodrich tires keeping him from turning turtle and giving up a podium position. Rob ended up in second on Saturday, closing Deegan’s series points lead and building a cushion ahead of Carl Renezeder in third place.

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, will be bringing their thunder making, ground shaking and fly them through the air short course off road racing show to the motorsports Mecca of Las Vegas this Saturday and Sunday, November 5th and 6th.

After a 5-round excused absence, Matt Loiodice has been giving the green flag to return to the sport that runs in his blood, racing.

Rewinding time to the Lucas Oil Off-Road race at Miller Motor Sports Park in Utah, on June 25, 2011; The #20 pro-lite is running 4th and passing all other trucks in it’s class with ease. Suddenly, the rhythm section got the best of the Impact sponsored machine and sent Loiodice into a high-flying spin, resembling an Olympic dive. Unfortunately there was no gold metal for Loiodice’s acrobats (even though he landed on all 4-Maxxis tires) but instead he received a trip to the in-field care center where X-rays revealed a shattered tibia and medius malleolus fracture.
Justin "Bean" Smith from Capistrano Beach, CA will do double duty this weekend. As Smith continues to race his BFGoodrich, Metal Mulisha, Competitive Metals Pro Buggy towards the points championship, he will also be racing and making his Pro-Lite debut at this weekends Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Riverside, California (November 1, 2011) - While a number of tragic events have rocked the motorsports world in recent weeks, none has had a greater effect on the Stronghold Motorsports organization than the tragic loss of short course off road racing Pro4 Champion Rick Huseman and his brother Jeff. Sharing roots in Riverside, California as well as a home in the paddock, the Stronghold organization's admiration and respect for Rick Huseman and the entire Huseman family extended well beyond the race track. As Rounds 13&14 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series approach, participants and spectators who attend the event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will honor Huseman's legacy as the humble, soft spoken man of faith who made history as he dominated the off road racing world.
LAKE FOREST, CA (November 1, 2011) – With heavy hearts, Carl Renezeder and his team head out to the penultimate event of the 2011 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series season this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The series lost two of its brightest stars, brothers Rick and Jeff Huseman, in a tragic plane crash on October 16, and the team will carry their grief with them in their travels. They will also honor the memory of their friends and fellow competitors by doing what the Huseman brothers loved so much: racing off-road.
“I feel so lucky to have been able to race with Rick,” commented Renezeder. “He was a true champion in every sense of the word, and my heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.”
Starting Friday, November 4th, Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host rounds 13 & 14 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. The idea of designing and building coffins for his two brothers who died in a plane crash earlier this month originally seemed odd to Danny Huseman.
When telling his parents and wife what he was thinking, he didn’t expect the casket building project to take shape so quickly.
“It turned into doing one last thing for my brother instead of saving money,” Huseman, 41, said. “We were all talking about stuff at my mom and dad’s. I was like, man, too bad I just couldn’t make some caskets and save you a ton of money. I was just throwing it out there and thought it was kinda weird and everybody just jumped on it.”
"A fierce competitor that always strived to be on top," said TORC racer Scott Douglas of the great Rick Huseman
INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 25, 2011) - The United States Auto Club Benevolent Foundation announced today the establishment of a charitable fund dedicated to the Huseman Family who suffered a tremendous loss with the passing of Rick Huseman, a USAC competitor in the TORC Off-Road Series.

"A fierce competitor that always strived to be on top," said TORC racer Scott Douglas of the great Rick Huseman
INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 20, 2011) - Back in 1996, when professional stadium off-road truck racing was happening in some of the major markets around the country, a then 30-year-old Johnny Greaves (Monster Energy/Toyota/Maxxis) ran into an upstart racer competing in the 7s class trucks - a support race to the headline USHRA Monster Trucks.
The two would hit it off that first quarter of '96, battling hard and quickly becoming stern adversaries on the track - but at the same time good friends in the pits. Then after an invitation to race the granddaddy of all short course off-road events - TORC's Crandon International Raceway - Rick Huseman's (Monster Energy/Toyota/BFG) interest in the sport piqued and he would build a truck for the new Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) Series, which would start up a year or so later. And Greaves and his new buddy, Huseman, would meet up again.
Colorado Springs, CO 10/20/2011 - The 2011 Traxxas TORC Season is in the bag. Brad Lovell had high hopes for the series finalie the Cycle Ranch near San Antonio, TX. The weekend not only featured two rounds of regular season racing, but also the inaugural $15,000 Traxxas Pro Light Cup. The newly constructed permanent track at the Cycle Ranch was alive with heavy equipment when the teams showed up. Over two dozen brutal jumps chopped up the zig zagging course challenging the nerve of Pro-Light drivers in particular.
San Clemente, CA (October 18, 2011) – Casey Currie tore in to Cycle Ranch in Texas, ready to charge in his Monster Energy General Tire Nissan, and ready to defend his 2010 title in the PRO Light class. After a high-energy weekend of top PRO Light drivers chomping at the bit for the Championship, Casey takes 4th in Saturday’s race, and ends an intense battle for the 2nd place podium spot on Sunday. Casey Currie proudly takes home 3rd place overall in the 2011 Championship and 7th in the Traxxas PRO Light Cup Race.
Saturday and Sunday’s leaders were neck and neck; giving the fans the intense short-course action they came to see. Casey would move up to cross the finish line in 3rd place on Saturday, but after reviewing the lap counter, CJ was given the 3rd place position, putting Casey in 4th for the day.

Cassie Currie took the early lead and dominated much of the special event, 15 lap shootout - run without TORC's customary mid-race mandatory caution. Up by more than five seconds at one point, a train of Traxxas PRO Light drivers including CJ Greaves, RJ Anderson and Brad Lovell (AMSOIL/BFG/Torchmate) separated from the rest of the field in pursuit of leader Currie.

FLORESVILLE, Texas, (Oct. 18, 2011) - The opening PRO 4x4 laps of the final round of the Traxxas TORC Series, presented by AMSOIL, was indicative of the entire season; tumultuous door-to-door racing action at a feverous pitch between the class' chief combatants - Ricky Johnson (Red Bull/KMC Wheels/Mopar/Ram) and Johnny Greaves (Monster Energy/Toyota/Maxxis). Then you had the latter PRO 4x4 laps, which pretty much mimicked, at least in Greaves' case, the dark rain clouds that dogged the series for much of the summer as Greaves broke and sat motionless on the side of the track as Johnson powered home to the victory and overall PRO 4x4 title at Texas' Cycle Ranch MX Park.

The last time the LeDuc team visited Speedworld the course was not kind to them, particularly the brutal stutter bumps. While the latest weekend of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) was not free of carnage for the LeDucs, they were rewarded for their never-say-die attitude. Fans braved triple digit temperatures to see Kyle LeDuc qualify first on Friday, with his father Curt qualifying fifth in the No. 43 Makita Tools / Truxxx Lift and Level Ford. Todd LeDuc tossed a driveshaft in practice, which forced him to start at the back of the pack for Saturday’s main event.

Earlier this season during the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) first visit to Speedworld Off Road Park, short course phenom Corey Sisler wowed the crowd by crossing the finish line on fire to reach the podium in Pro Lite Unlimited. In last weekend’s return to Speedworld, the grandstands were on fire as the crowd braved triple-digit heat in order to watch short course racing’s fastest racers. Sisler got off to a great start, second quickest out of twelve racers on Friday’s practice with the newly applied AEM Performance Electronics logos gracing the side of his No. 19 Pro Lite Unlimited truck.
With no racing to worry about tomorrow, it was time to put it all on the line today, as the drivers of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, presented by GEICO, returned to the Speedworld Off Road Park here in Surprise, AZ for Round 12 of the 2011 championship. While some points gaps were tightened right up yesterday, others were blown wide open, and the only drivers more desperate to gain ground than those who had a good day yesterday were the ones whose day went upside-down in Round 11. The resilient Arizona fans once again packed the stands despite the high temperatures and unabated sun, and they were treated to a full day of thrilling races. We hope you were part of the scene today, but if not, read on to see what you missed.

The ROCKSTAR Energy Drink was flowing as thirsty fans overcame the triple digit heat at Speedworld to watch MacCachren qualify third last Friday, which put him on the first row for Saturday’s main event.
After a seven-week break, the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, presented by GEICO, is back in action this weekend, as the Speedworld Off Road Park plays host to Rounds 11 and 12 of the 2011 season this weekend. The temperatures were definitely warm here in the northern Phoenix suburb of Surprise, but some clouds overhead this morning made the day much more bearable, and a throng of hardy fans filled the stands to see their favorite drivers fly through the air and spray rooster tails of mud and gravel. The end of the season is now in sight, and with just five rounds left to run, the stakes are as high as they've ever been, and it showed in the fights that drivers put up on the track today. JOLIET, Ill., (Sept. 15, 2011) - Coming out guns-a-blazing, but possibly spacing for a moment on using your left foot to slow down a 3,000-pound, 400-horsepower off-road truck versus your right foot to bring a 225-pound dirt bike to a halt, famed motocrosser James "Bubba" Stewart (Red Bull/Oakley/Traxxas) flipped his Traxxas TORC Series, presented by AMSOIL, PRO Light truck on the opening lap of practice and, for a moment there, his short course off-road truck racing career looked to be over as quickly as it started.

"We had a fast truck all weekend and raced four times, but after the last race we had about a thousand pounds of extra weight on our truck (mud) and it took a bunch of work from the team and my family and friends to clean 'er all up," said a beaming Hord from the podium. "I really have to thank my team for this one. Sure feels good."

Bark River is the longest and fastest track in all of short course. While Crandon might carry more fame, Bark River hosted what is surely the fastest and most dramatic racing of the season. 15 Pro-lights took the track for Rounds 7 & 8 or the 2011 season. Absent from the podium, but not the battle was the #44 AMSOIL Nissan Frontier of Brad Lovell.
“Bark River is my favorite track for a reason, the speed is amazing,” comments driver Brad Lovell, “We are hitting jumps at over 75 mph and drifting through turns where the truck is airborne at the apex. We are clearing 150 ft on the big jump. Everything about Bark River is a fine line.” The view of Bark River from the driver set is much different from that in the bleachers and fans enjoyed door banging action packed racing all weekend long.
Abrams, WI (August 19, 2011)—The Monster Energy/Toyota/Maxxis team of Johnny Greaves, Marty Hart, and CJ Greaves headed to the familiar territory of Bark River International Raceway this past weekend for rounds 7 and 8 of the TORC Series. Johnny, Marty and CJ have all enjoyed a lot of success at this track located in the Upper Peninsula of Mich. There will only be one race held at Bark River this year so the G-Team was revved-up and ready to take on their respective classes. The record crowd witnessed some exciting racing as well as some ugly incidents on and off the track.
Bark River, Michigan—When the dust settled on rounds 7 and 8 of TORC Series presented by AMSOIL racing, one thing was evident to keen observers of short course off-road competition—Scott Douglas and the AMSOIL BFGoodrich number 7 Ford have injected more speed into their consistent, top-notch formula. That speed was first apparent during qualifying when Douglas laid down the second fastest qualifying time with a new manual transmission and a few other driveline modifications.
Bark River was the first race-condition test for the manual transmission in the AMSOIL PRO 4X4 truck and it proved to be a potent tool in the Douglas Motorsports arsenal. In Saturday’s PRO 4X4 race, Douglas launched to a good start only to be collected at the outside of turn one with a stalled truck. He refired and though now two turns back from the leaders settled into a very fast pace, working his way through the field. Scott passed Mark Jenkins before the competition yellow and moved into third after the restart.
