CORR Action Arrives to LA Fairplex-Pomona, California

The Nation's Top Racers Pack CORR-Fairplex Pomona in Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles , Calif., (May 19, 2007) – It's been nearly 20 years since off road racing was held at the Los Angeles Fairplex in Pomona, California and off road racing legend, Walker Evans, said it best while in front of a packed house at the CORR Media Day on the fairgrounds. Evans said," If anyone can make it happen again, it's Jim Baldwin. I'm proud to be standing here today and I'm sure this weekend will be great racing."

Walker Evans told a crowd of media that he last raced here in 1980 or 1981 on the horse track, then hollowed grounds, but now even more. Walker Evans joined Super Cross icon, Ricky Johnson in a long list of heavy hitting professional off road racers that included Jon Nelson, Scott Douglas, Carl Renezeder, Rob MacCachren, Jerry Whelchel and others who all packed the house to mingle with the Los Angeles media.

Afterwards, the CORR superstars put on a great performance on the newly designed track that features some 1500' feet of asphalt! The asphalt is nicely tucked into the track at a location where acceleration is paramount coming out of a high banked turn.

Rob Mac commented, " It's going to be a tire war this weekend with that asphalt section."

Scott Douglas took some time getting used to the asphalt as he drove his #7 Khumo/Amsoil truck into the K-rail and bent some front tubing. It wasn't enough damage to stop the veteran CORR racer and we might add the 2006 Borg-Warner Champion.

Monster's Jerry Whelchel was laying it all out in the media practice session and the #41 Monster Energy backed Pro 2 will be railing all weekend long. We caught up with Jerry and he said the hot rod is ready and has some big get up and go.

Speed Freaks TV / Radio Host - Kenny Sargeant was at the track shooting for an upcoming CORR special that will be featured on his highly-viewed television show in the coming days.

The CORR Media day was huge as some of the nation's top media arrived for what is expected to be a big weekend of racing at the LA Fairplex-Pomona.
