CRANDON, WI (June 19, 2006) –
NEW PRECISION GEAR STARTING TOWER SUPER-STRUCTURE AT
CRANDON RACEWAY
Crandon International Off-Road Raceway announced it
has begun construction of a new Starter's Tower for
the 2006 Lucas Oil Championship Off-Road Racing season.
The new starter's tower will be higher, wider and more
modern and is part of the Raceway's $100,000+ off-season
renovation.
Specifically, the new tower will overhang the track
by up to 16 feet, providing a better field of vision
for racers at the starting line of Crandon's famed land
rush start. The starting line and new starting tower
continue to be sponsored by Precision Gear. Precision
Gear has sponsored starting facilites at Crandon Raceway
for a decade.
"We have already torn down the existing tower,"
said Fay Statezny, official starter, Crandon Raceway
and member of the track's Board of Director's. "We
will have the new tower ready and operational by our
opening CORR off-road race," he commented. That
race is the Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run Races,
June 24-25, 2006 at Crandon Raceway. The race weekend
combines CORR Pro and Sportsman drivers in the biggest
event of the young CORR season.
"We want to thank Precision Gear for their continued
investment in Crandon Raceway and in the most exciting
starting line in off-road racing," said Statezny.
Statezney said the new tower will help Crandon Raceway
keep pace with the growing number of off-road racers
descending on Crandon Raceway. "For example, we
expect a field of 30 high-performance race trucks representing
a multi-million dollar investment lined up at the start
for the 13th annual Potawatomi Chairman's Cup race,"
he said. The Potawatomi Chairman's Cup race is a "heavy
metal challenge" race between CORR Pro 4 4x4 trucks
and CORR Pro 2 and Sportsman 2-wheel drive pickups.
Crandon is entering its 37th season of off-road racing.
The FCP Brush Run Races will feature 11 classes of off-road
racing daily. The event is also Crandon Raceway's "Fan
Appreciation" weekend and one lucky fan we will
$1,000. More information about Crandon Raceway is available
