Johnny Greaves

GREENVILLE, S.C. – September 5, 2007 – BFGoodrich Tires triumphed at the 38th Annual Borg Warner Cup World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) event last weekend in Crandon, Wis., earning several class victories including Johnny Greaves (Toyota/BFGoodrich Tires) capturing his second Borg Warner Cup to wrap up the event. Scott Taylor (Ford/BFGoodrich Tires) won both Pro-2 class races while Jeff Kincaid (Toyota/BFGoodrich Tires) swept the Pro-Light category with three victories including the Pro-Light “Decision at Sundown” Forest County Potawatomi Challenge Cup tying him for the Pro-Light points lead. Carl Renezeder (Nissan/BFGoodrich Tires) also took home a Pro-4 trophy. The three-day off-road race weekend was held Aug. 31- September 2 at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway.

The chase between the 2wd class drivers and 4wd class drivers for the illustrious Borg Warner Cup proved to be the perfect finale for the action-packed off-road weekend. When the green flag dropped, the 2wd class drivers took the lead on the rest of the field through the first few jumps with Taylor out in front. Adrian Cenni (Chevy/BFGoodrich Tires) took the lead in the 4wd class, which was trailing slightly behind the group of 2wd class drivers. Greaves and Renezeder worked their way up through the pack before entering into a battle with Cenni for the 4wd lead as the 4wd class drivers moved up on the lead group of 2wd class drivers. As the final laps wound down, Greaves sliced his way past Cenni into second overall behind Taylor, while Renezeder moved into third overall. Greaves then moved into the overall lead after running down Taylor and making a pass on the famous Crandon Raceway Barn Jump. During the final two laps, Greaves utilized the power of his 4wd vs. Taylor’s 2wd truck to pull away from Taylor and capture his second Borg Warner Cup. Taylor finished second overall and was the first in the 2wd class to finish the race while Renezeder took third overall in the special event.

Greaves said his BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/AKR tires were a major factor in his success in the Borg Warner Cup Race: “My tires were flawless. They were doing everything we needed them to do. During the last few laps as the track got drier, my tires really hooked up. All in all, it was a good time and I’m glad to get BFGoodrich Tires back on the podium.”

“We are very pleased that BFGoodrich Tires had such a great weekend,” said Todd Steen, motorsports marketing manager for BFGoodrich Tires. “The annual WSORR event in Crandon is the Super Bowl of closed course off-road racing – and the perfect place to showcase our performance-proven products. We congratulate all of the drivers for their tremendous efforts.”

Additional winners running on BFGoodrich tires included Eric Ruppel, who captured two Stock Truck class victories. Mark Steinhardt won one of the 1600 Buggy class races and Dan Baudoux (Ford/BFGoodrich Tires) won a Super Stock Truck class race.
