Crandon, WI (June 26, 2008) - The team went north to Crandon Wisconsin for rounds 3 and 4 of the 2008 WSORR season tour. There were no scheduled activities for Friday other than registration and Tech.

Saturday June 21st
The morning practices for Jon and Kevin saw the trucks working great with the exception of a slight glitch in the #5 Pro Lite. The truck would not pull up over 6500 RPM and that was a problem. In the pits later, Jon’s dad and engine builder Jeff Probst quickly diagnosed the problem as an ignition pickup and that part was changed to solve the issue. Both trucks were ready for the day’s events.

Saturday’s Pro Lite race saw Jon and the #5 E3 Spark Plugs/Lucas Oil Nissan PRO-Light start in the 4th position.   Jon was 8th into the first turn after getting a bad start and went to work on the field.  After battling with two trucks for the first half of the race, the 8th place truck spun, allowing Jon to move into 7th place.  At the end of the race Jon worked his E3 Spark Plugs/Lucas Oil Nissan into 6th place.  “The grooving changes we made after practice really made a big difference for us.”  Said Jon after the race “I feel very good about our chances in the race tomorrow.  We have the Fox Shox tuned in and the Toyo Tires are hooking up.”

The Pro 2wd race was up last for the day. Kevin was on the grid in the 5th position in the land rush start famous in Crandon. The 12 truck field never had a chance as the #99 E3 Spark Plugs/Lucas Oil Chevy took the holeshot into turn one and never looked back. At the race end, Kevin had an 8 second lead over Scott Taylor and Dan Vandenheuvel rounded out the top 3. “We had an awesome truck today and the Toyo Tires worked great” said Kevin, “Our Pro Power engine and Fox shocks put down the gauntlet on the competition”.

After readying the trucks on Saturday night, Jon and Kevin went out for a practice run on Sunday morning.  The practice went well with the #5 E3 Spark Plugs/Lucas Oil Nissan PRO-Light performing flawlessly as well as the Pro 2 #99.  The team was ready for Sunday afternoon’s race action.

The Pro 2wd race was up first in the Sunday schedule. Kevin saw the green in the 7th position (2nd in the points inversion). Kevin had a muddy start line and went through turn one in the 2nd spot. After a lap Kevin was leading and a great race was developing with Scott Taylor in tow. Taylor made an aggressive slide pass and took the lead with 4 laps remaining. Kevin, in chase, could not close the gap and the day ended with Taylor 1st, Probst 2nd, and Vandenheuvel 3rd. “Our tire groove was set up for dry track conditions, and the rain while we were on the staging line did not help” said Kevin “We took what was available, and we are now tied for the points lead in Pro 2wd and a great weekend overall”

The Pro Lite race was up next, and Jon with his E3 Spark Plugs/Lucas Oil Nissan PRO-Light started in the 3rd spot for Sunday’s event, and after the green flag dropped Jon had made it through Crandon’s famous Turn One in the 4th spot.  For the next 5 laps, Jon repeatedly held off attempts by 2007 WSORR class champion Chad Hord.  Settling into a comfortable pace, Jon worked up to the back bumper of the 3rd place truck.  With two laps to go, Jon made a costly mistake and spun out in the Finish line turn, moving him back to the 5th spot.  Two laps of trying to gain the position back were unsuccessful, but did provide the fastest lap of the race.  “We are definitely improving our program this season.  With the truck dialed in and me getting comfortable in it, I think we are set to really step up this year.  I’m really looking forward to racing for the podium in Bark River.” said an excited Jon after the race.  “A big thanks goes out to Ralph and the guys at Toyo.  Their grooving choice made the truck easy to drive this weekend.”

Next up is rounds 5 and 6 in Bark River Michigan July 12th and 13th.  We are testing this weekend to improve our speed for the races to come.
