TINLEY PARK, Ill., June 12, 2008 — Race fans will get even a “better” look at Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) action in 2008 as the entire season will be broadcast on high definition television on the home of motorsports, the SPEED Channel. NeWave Television Productions has announced the 2008 show format and broadcast team, which again includes NASCAR star Brendan Gaughan, following a very successful initial television campaign that resulted in the top-rated off-road short course race shows aired on SPEED.
NeWave will be taping the series and compiling the off-road events into one-hour high definition (HDTV) programs that will air on SPEED. The episodes will focus on each round of racing from the PRO 2WD, PRO Light Pickup, PRO 4x4 and PRO Super Buggy classes. Additionally, the SRT sportsman classes will be compiled into their own programs. Similarly to last year, the Forest County Potawatomi Chairman’s Cup race and the FCP Decision at Sundown PRO Light Pickup Challenge will be one program. The prestigious one-hour BorgWarner Shootout caps the season. This year, bonus coverage of explosive WSORR racing will also be broadcast on VERSUS.
The NeWave television crew will be very visible at the events throughout the season as there will be a 48-foot HDTV truck with a full complement of high-def track cameras, in-car cameras and crew. Brendan Gaughan will return as the Series expert analyst between his duties as NASCAR Truck racer and will be joined this year by seasoned motorsports host Scott Douglass. Ted Brunson, newcomer to WSORR, will be serving as pit reporter following stints on SPEED and the Golf Channel.
“We are happy to have Brendan return and are excited to have him joined by Scott Douglass,” stated Steve Grein, Executive Producer for NeWave Television Productions. “The energy between Scott Douglass and Brendan Gaughan during the 2007 BorgWarner Shootout show was definitely what we were hoping for with this series and look to continue that in our second season,” he said. Grein added that the combination of race results and reality behind-the-scenes coverage was very successful in the first season of WSORR and the plan is to increase that with this season’s programming.
The 2008 WSORR television series will begin airing on SPEED later this year and concludes in March of 2009. More information on WSORR, NeWave Television Productions or Lucas Oil is available on the web at www.newavetv.com, www.lucasoil.com, and www.WSORR.com.
