CHULA VISTA, Calif.(July 24,2008) Monster Energy Motorsports has invaded San Diego’s off road race track, affectionately named “The Quarry,” at the Chula Vista International Raceway.  The Championship Off-Road Racing Series (CORR) has come to town for Rounds 7 & 8 of the 2008 CORR Season and one of the biggest attractions at the race event is Monster Energy Motorsports led by Borg-Warner Champion, Johnny Greaves.

“We’ve been waiting all year to return to ‘The Quarry’ in San Diego. The track is fast and technically challenging and we’re pumped up to bring out both of our Monster Energy Pro race trucks this weekend.  The Monster Energy Pro 2 ‘Bandit’ is ready to rock this place and take some of the winning hardware and put it up in the Monster Energy headquarters.  Joe Parsons has brought out ‘Monster Vision’ and this radical state-of-the-art VIP Lounge, which is an absolute must-experience if you haven’t seen it before,” said a smiling Johnny Greaves.

More than 15,000 spectators, from both the United States and Mexico, are expected to pack the grandstands, as well as mingle in the racer’s pits, which are open to the public allowing spectators unprecedented access to race teams.

“The Quarry” is a .84-mile purpose-built race course featuring high banked turns, six-foot high bumps along with a high-speed front stretch. The kicker to this race track is the massive 150-foot jump that tests the nerves of even the toughest racers in the nation.

Monster Energy’s Rick Huseman chuckled and explained, “The big jump can give you the jitters if you’re not used to going big, but most of the top drivers have the rhythm down and fly big off the top.  I’ve always said that you have to go Monster big or go home, because Championship Off-Road Racing isn’t for everyone.”

Rick Huseman arrives to “The Quarry” as the point’s leader among the elite field of the nation’s fastest off road racing trucks, CORR Pro 4.  Huseman has demonstrated the patience to run solid and finish within the top five.  So far this season, he’s captured two victories to lead Pro 4 racers.  This weekend’s Round 7 & 8 will provide Huseman with the opportunity to stretch out his point lead from those charging hard chasing him down.

Monster Energy rolled into the Chula Vista International Off-Road Raceway with their state-of-the-art VIP lounge aptly named “Monster Vision.”  The multi-level portable facility will offer a spectacular view of the race track and with temperatures at the track forecasted to be in the low 80’s, “Monster Vision” will offer a chill factor to a comfortable low 70’s.  Inside, guests will be served their favorite flavor of Monster Energy while viewing the race action while it is streamed live.  The top patio of the “Monster Vision” VIP Lounge is only a short hop up the stairs and it accommodates 125 guests that will be able to feel, hear and smell the action trackside.

Over 25 race trucks have gathered here in San Diego racing in the ever so popular CORR Pro 2 field.  This weekend, the Monster Energy Pro 2 of Johnny Greaves is slated for what is expected to be a smokin’ run to the front for “The Bandit.”

Greaves explained, “The addition of the Pro 2 to our program has been a learning experience in the first six rounds of racing, but we’ve spent a significant amount of time during the summer break working on the setup of “The Bandit” and we feel confident that things are moving in the right direction.  We’re happy to campaign Monster Energy trucks in both Pro 2 and Pro 4, and we’re coming on strong this weekend.  You can expect to see some Monster Madness happening with our program this weekend.”

Mexico’s Rodrigo Ampudia, a second generation off road racer from Ensenada, Mexico, has a few hundred family and friends that will all converge at the Papa’s N Beer/Monster Energy Pro 2 & Pro Lite pit this weekend. The young Mexican off road racer has competed against the nation’s top teams in both Pro 2 and Pro Lite this season, fairing very well with multiple podium finishes.  Ampudia is the reigning Pro Lite World Champion after his glorious run to a sweeping victory at the Crandon World Championships in Crandon, Wisconsin in 2007.

Ampudia commented, “Off road racing is what I live for.  Racing here in Chula Vista is like racing at our home race track.  I’m bringing it Monster Hard this weekend, so come out and watch Papa’s N’ Beer rage out of control towards big victories in Chula Vista.”

The young Mexican Monster Energy superstar has been very exciting to watch since taking to the dirt at Championship Off-Road Racing.

Rounds 7 and 8 of the CORR Series will air both on the Speed Channel and NBC Sport television.  Saturday’s Round 7 will be broadcasted on Speed TV and NBC Sports television will host Sunday’s Round 8 live a 1 ½ hour show.  Check your local listings for television schedules in your area.

Monster Energy’s VIP Lounge is on display at “The Quarry” at Chula Vista International Raceway.  Venture out to the track for a sample of CORR and your favorite Monster Energy Flavor!
