CORR-JIM BALDWIN EXTENDS OFFER OF COOPERATION TO LUCAS OIL OFF ROAD RACING SERIES

NBC COVERAGE POSSIBLE IN 2009, AS ADDITION TO SPEED PROGRAMMING. SPEED ALSO OPEN TO “LIVE” SHOW CONCEPT FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP SHOOT OUT EVENT

WORLD SERIES OF OFF ROAD RACING AND LUCAS OIL PRODUCTS CURRENTLY HAVE CONTRACTUAL COMMITMENT THROUGH YEAR 2012

Corona, CA (February 17, 2009)
Bob Patison, Executive Vice-President of Lucas Oil Products:

The management staff of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series and representatives of Championship Off Road Racing (CORR) have met several times over the past two weeks to discuss issues of mutual concern within the short course off road industry. The end result of these meetings was an agreement between the parties to work together to promote the well being of short course off road racing. Jim Baldwin, principal figure in CORR, offered the use of the CORR name and logo to the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series for a period of one year. Mr. Baldwin also offered the use of his fabulous Chula Vista facility to Lucas Oil Off Road for 2009, maximum of three events. Mr. Baldwin’s offer was conveyed in writing on February 12, 2009 and confirmed in a telephone conversation the following day between Jim Baldwin and Bob Patison.

“Jim Baldwin has made an amazing and generous offer. He has a genuine interest in seeing the sport continue on at a high level of professionalism. Mr. Baldwin’s offer is being carefully considered at this time. The details of how to effectively work together will be explored in an expeditious fashion. It is no secret that Mr. Baldwin and I have not always agreed with one another over the years. However, we agree now that it is time to set differences aside and find a way to work together for the benefit of all concerned with Off Road Racing.” - Bob Patison, Lucas Oil Products

Discussions are on going with NBC and the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series for programming in 2009. Talks are in the preliminary stages, however, NBC has a strong interest is seeing Off Road Racing remain on their network. Lucas Oil and NBC will be meeting later this week to further explore the opportunities available for this season.

SPEED has also expressed interest in a “LIVE” show to be added to their schedule, in addition to the 18 hours of delayed programming already slated for 2009 and 2010. Discussions will continue to determine open dates on the network and acceptable venue sites.

On Monday, December 1, 2008, Lucas Oil Products sent written notice to the officials at the World Series of Off Road Racing that Lucas was exercising its contractual rights to continue on as Title Sponsor of WSORR in 2009 and, Lucas Oil also exercised its option rights to continue on as Title Sponsor of WSORR through 2012.

“Lucas Oil remains committed to Off Road Racing and will honor its contractual commitments to WSORR and the racers of the Mid-West. Television coverage is a key element of what Lucas brings to the table. Financial constraints may dictate the scope of television coverage that can be afforded but, it is available to WSORR under the current contract. Lucas Oil will also continue its team level sponsorship of many Mid-West competitors.

There are many elements coming together right now. The prospect of national broadcast television (NBC) is a reality. Conducting races at Chula Vista is possible, courtesy of Mr. Baldwin. SPEED is interested in stepping up its coverage of the sport. The Mid-West racers and WSORR have not been abandoned, as some have insinuated. It is possible to take this sport to the level it deserves. It will require cooperation between promoters, financial support of sponsors, competitor support and key media partners.

It can be done and should be done before we run out of time and the sport suffers because of our inability to come together.”
