Las Vegas, NV (August 17, 2010)— Racing back to back weekends across the United States, ROCKSTAR Energy Racing worked round the clock in preparation for the Traxxas TORC Series at the world-class Bark River International Raceway.

Rob MacCachren unloaded his #21 ROCKSTAR / BFGoodrich Tires / Mastercraft Safety Ford F150 for rounds 7 and 8 of the 2010 Traxxas TORC Series after 2400 miles and a mere 84 hours since his last race in Southern California. Fueled by ROCKSTAR Energy Drink and racing adrenaline, the team readied for the battle at Bark River Raceway.

For two decades, Rob MacCachren has visited the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for off road racing and it’s a place that he and his team treasure. He explained, “Bark River and its fans are amazing. This place has a mystic about it and the track is phenomenal. We are always treated like royalty here in Bark River and the fans just plain love off road racing and its long heritage.”

Beneath the ROCKSTAR Energy Racing awning, MacCachren was all business as he rallied the crew for their quest towards winning the Traxxas TORC Season Championship. MacCachren is the defending champion from last season and leads the Traxxas TORC Series Pro 2 season championship points race.

During the Saturday morning qualifying session, the #21 Ford F150 was fast and qualified in the second position several hundredths behind the top qualifier. Rob commented, “We are fast but so is everyone else. The level of competition has improved and reached a new height this season with many racers going very very fast. However, we continue to improve our truck and as the season progresses we have more and more seat time working towards a perfect truck.”

Both Saturday and Sunday at Bark River International Raceway saw huge crowds enjoying the festive atmosphere that Bark River is well known for. On Saturday the #21 glossy black truck branded with the blazing yellow ROCKSTAR charged from the front of the field at the drop of the green flag. MacCachren started on the outside of Jeremy McGrath in the front row and in the first turn along the outside the soft fluff slowed MacCachren enough that Ricky Johnson was able to get by. However, as the race progressed, MacCachren positioned himself for a run towards the checkers and that’s exactly what he did. By the time the black and white checkered flag waved, MacCachren had made up a lot of ground earning a solid third place podium finish.

The crew worked into the evening making changes to the #21 Ford F150 and by Sunday’s Round 10, MacCachren was confident about running up front.

Sunday’s race was fast and furious as everyone in the field raged into the first turn. MacCachren and several racers had contact, but he was able to run with the front pack early. The situation changed seven laps later as the green flag dropped after the mandatory yellow caution. MacCachren was spun around by Chad Hord after heavy contact in the first turn. Once again, he was forced to race from the back. MacCachren is an off road racing master and he weaved the ROCKSTAR magic through the field finishing in the second position.

“That was wild and I’m very happy to be on the podium today. We had a bit of racing bad luck, but being able to come back through the field is clearly the work of the ROCKSTAR Energy Racing team. We’ve had to overcome diversity in the past and this is no different. Our goal is to win the season championship back to back and that goal is still a very strong reality,” said the dirt covered racing champion.

Rob MacCachren has accumulated 174 off road racing victories over his 28-year racing career, where he has earned 19 season championships.

MacCachren leads the Traxxas TORC Series point’s race as well as the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series point’s race thus far this season. Of the 18 races the Las Vegas off road racer has raced in the two short course series, he has reached the podium an incredible 17 times.
