CORR Racers Join Together for a Media Day at
Pole Position Raceway

Corona, CA (April 26, 2006)

Drivers from all over the country gathered here today at Pole Position Raceway to give the media a chance to get the inside scoop before the big 2006 CORR LUCAS OIL Nissan Off-Road season opener in Chula Vista, CA on May 20-21st.

A group of CORR’s elite drivers were invited here to share their plans for the 2006 CORR season with many different media affiliations and to have a little fun themselves out on the track.

Pole Position welcomed the racers into their state-of-the-art indoor go-kart facility with open arms. This 53,000 square-foot building features a ¼ mile track, high performance electric karts and is owned by many Motorsports legends, including 7-time AMA Supercross Champion Jeremy McGrath.

The likes of Josh and Cissy Baldwin, CORR Veteran Evan Evans, Curt, Todd, and Kyle LeDuc, Red Bull’s Steve Barlow, and newcomers Marty and Travis Coyne and Casey Currie brought their race helmets to the track to have some fun before the 2006 CORR inaugural race weekend.

Drivers battled all day with each other as if they were racing the first few laps in Chula Vista. Every lap was a race against the time, as the racer with the fastest lap was to be crowned the winner.

Grand Monarch Resorts/Skyjacker sponsored - Todd LeDuc looked to be one of the fastest on the track and DirtNewz staffers caught up with him to find out his secret to setting fast lap.

The resulting investigation discovered that LeDuc has frequented Pole Position in the past and today wasn’t the first time this CORR Pro-2 Driver has raced at the track. In fact, a bit more digging and DirtNewz found out that this was his 134th race at this specific track since this past November.

DirtNewz’ Brittany Sanchez commented to CORR Official Scott Rehn, “Maybe Todd should be disqualified from this event,” as they shared a laugh at Todd LeDuc’s expense.

Todd commented, “It just takes practice and the need for speed.”

Pro-2 Rookie, Travis Coyne – sponsored by Pro Comp Tires, enjoyed an easy day in front of the cameras as Speed Channel was in town performing interviews with CORR drivers in a makeshift studio set up at Pole Position Raceway.

Travis told DirtNewz staffers, “I’m looking forward to jumping into the CORR race action for the first time here this year.” Travis Coyne is a veteran off-road desert racer who has excelled in racing the Pro Comp #6 Trophy Truck in the SCORE Desert Series. Trophy Truck racing is the pinnacle of off-road desert racing where racers and their machines are tested in the wilds of the Baja Peninsula, as well as the deserts of the United States.

Travis Coyne is not the only Coyne off-road racer who will venture into the 2006 CORR LUCAS OIL Series. His dad, Marty Coyne, is a veteran short course racer who only last year demonstrated his tremendous talent beating his competition hands down at the SCORE Terrible’s Cup held in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Marty also competed at the CORR Nissan National Championships held at Chula Vista International Raceway late last year, where he honed his skills during the early practice sessions before setting the stage and capturing the Unlimited Desert Truck Championship Trophy, as well as the $25,000 dollar prize money accompanying the top spot. You can be sure that the Coyne Motorsports team will be one powerhouse team to follow throughout the 2006 CORR Season.

Forest County Potawatomi Casino sponsored – Evan Evans made an appearance but ducked out early as he commented, “I’m in the middle of putting the finishing touches on my truck and we’re picking up our new motor today. We are working very quickly to get everything done before race day.” Evan Evans, the son of off road racing legend – Walker Evans, is a well-regarded racer who’s fierce competitive spirit has landed him in the winner’s circle more than once.

The buzz among the drivers was all upbeat as they greeted the media in anticipation for the upcoming season. Speed Channel took extensive time with drivers to capture their best sides, which for some drivers was decided to be neither the left or the right side.

Steve Barlow’s restaurant “Chuy’s” catered the lunch time affair, serving an array of delicious mexican cuisine that everyone raved about.

As the 2006 CORR LUCAS OIL Nissan Off-Road season opener approaches, CORR drivers are preparing to show what they are all about on the dirt tracks of America, as the CORR LUCAS OIL Series opens in only a few weeks.
