Rumble at the International Border –
CORR Invades Chula Vista for Season Opener

Chula Vista, CA (May 16, 2006)
The world according to CORR has arrived to Chula Vista, California as CORR CEO/President, Jim Baldwin relishes his dream come true evolved into a life of its own in the new era of off road racing.
For over three decades, Mr. Jim Baldwin has been recognized as a respected figure in the off road racing world. Since his purchase of CORR late last season and amid what his critics have regarded as “reckless decisions,” Championship Off Road Racing is here to stay and in a big way!
Baldwin’s bold move to relocate a bulk load of the 2006 CORR racing schedule to the West Coast still has many Mid-West racers in a tizzy, but as they say, “It is what it is!” With the resurgence of the so-called short track off road racing back in Southern California, anything is possible. Southern California and the Las Vegas metropolitan area have long been regarded as the epicenter of off road racing.
The realization by many that Jim Baldwin’s lifelong dream to reintroduce short track racing in the Southern California community has been well received by the off road racing industry. The key question has always been, “Will they come?” Of course, meaning the fans. Racers from across the United States are trekking across the nation enroute to Chula Vista International Raceway for the 2006 CORR Lucas Oil Pro Series season opener set to race all weekend long in Chula Vista.
Exciting, you may ask? You bet! Where else can race fans come to watch 700 horsepower dirt machines barrel into the first turn at 100 miles per hour or see the nation’s top off road racing champions all assembled in CORR’s pit zone greeting fans up close and personal? Only at a Championship Off Road Race.
Chula Vista International Raceway is situated on the United States/Mexico border, merely a stone’s throw away from the infamous Tijuana, Mexico. In fact, the city of Chula Vista is often referred to by locals as Chula Juana, suggesting a cross between Tijuana and Chula Vista proper. But even NASCAR’s Jimmy Johnson recently mentioned in a radio broadcast, “I don’t recommend anyone go to Tijuana after dark.” Johnson grew up in nearby El Cajon, California, seemingly a hot bed for producing hot shot racers.
Jim Baldwin and his CORR staff have carved out a slice of Mother Earth and developed it into the nation’s newest off road raceway. Opening in September 2005 and hosting the finals of the 2005 CORR Lucas Oil Pro Series, as well as the 2005 Nissan National Championships, the Chula Vista International Raceway was a favorite of both race teams and fans alike.
Granted, the stadium did not fill to capacity, but great ideas sometimes take time to develop.
The CORR off season has seen a myriad of personnel changes often associated with new ownership of corporate businesses. And that was nothing new to Jim Baldwin, a successful businessman and real estate developer.
Earlier this year, Baldwin hired SCORE International Director of Operations – Ric Miller as Vice President of CORR. However, that was short lived, as Miller resigned almost as fast as he was hired. Nonetheless, we all know Baldwin to be resolute and CORR has gone on and will succeed.
With the 2006 season only moments away, racing is about to begin!
