2006 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 $10,000 Payout!!
Presented by MotorBaja.com
and Desert Rat Off Road Centers
DIRTsports Magazine,
UPR.com and AEM are putting
up a $10,000 contingency cash payout for Tecate SCORE
Baja 1000 competitors. 2006 marks the third year of the
pay out program. This year participants will be given
the opportunity to donate some or all of their payout
to the El Oasis Orphanage in Valle Trinidad.
Here’s how it works:
DIRTsports, UPR.com and
AEM designed this contingency program to reward as many
racers as possible with hard cash at the finish line!
The 2005 payout went deep into the field of finishers;
all classes have a chance to win!
DIRTsports, UPR and AEM pay $1000.00 to registered cars
and trucks for 1st through 5th, 10th, 15th 20th, 25th
and 30th overall finishing position with no time correction.
What this means is that you are scored as you physically
cross the finish line, so your race finishing position
can be different from the contingency finishing position.
If a vehicle isn’t registered, the money will roll
to the next finisher. For example, if the 1st overall
does not qualify, the next finisher that does qualify
will get the money. The money is paid back until the funds
are exhausted.
To qualify:
• Any car or truck is eligible and can register
by phone with UPR (866-457-5872), online at www.upr.com,
or during contingency and tech before the race starts.
• The vehicle must have TWO (2) DIRTsports Magazine
decals, TWO (2) UPR decals and TWO (2) AEM decals visible
on the side of the vehicle when the race starts. Desert
Rat Off Road Centers and MotorBaja.com decals will also
be distributed (placement is recommended but not required).
• Participating vehicles must finish with at least
one of the required decals visible. UPR, DIRTsports and
AEM staff will identify winners at the end of the race
and will present them with a mock check at the finish
line for publicity photos.
• Prize money is distributed in cash or check at
the awards banquet following the race.
Here is what past participants have to say:
"Contingency programs are usually not worth the time
they take to chase down, but the UPR/DIRTsports program
is without a doubt the best ever."

continue to support it." Andy McMillin of McMillin
racing, 2004 $3000.00 winner, 2005 $2000.00 winner
