Las Vegas, NV — 2006 SCORE-International champion BJ Baldwin has announced he will expand his 2008 race program to include multiple off-road championship competitions, including SCORE, Best in The Desert and CORR (Championship Off Road Racing). BJ is currently campaigning his trophy truck in the SCORE-International and Best in the Desert championship series. He will begin testing and building his CORR race team this year with plans to campaign a Pro-2 truck the 2009 CORR season. Additionally, BJ plans on expanding his program to include both rally racing and the Dakar styled rally raid competitions.
When asked about the upcoming year and his current duties BJ responded; “I have a lot going on, my father and I are building a 22,000 sq foot race prep facility in Las Vegas to support our racing efforts. We are in the process of finishing the facility and staffing it with the right people. We are both going to be racing SCORE and Best in the Desert as well as exploring other options. We will be taking delivery of two new Pro-2’s in June. I can’t wait to begin testing and racing CORR! I recently added a new sponsor, Vision-X Lights, which I am totally excited about. I have a new website coming, so I can keep in touch with all the race fans out there. And I have started a feature length film project with Mad Media and the Martelli brothers, that we plan on releasing towards the beginning of next year. We have some things planned that have never been done before in an off-road film before. I want to race as much as I can. If I had it my way, I would be racing all the time,” stated the confident BJ Baldwin.
BJ has started his 2008 race season off strong, battling through minor mechanical failures to stay in contention in both the SCORE and Best in the Desert championships. Currently, BJ is first in points in the SCORE series. He finished the SCORE Laughlin Challenge in second place despite transmission and tire issues. At the Best in the Desert “Parker 425”, BJ managed a ninth in-class finish despite engine problems. BJ finished the SCORE San Felipe 250 in seventh place despite leading the race for well over two hours, only to loose a transmission mid-race. BJ had this to say about the first few races of the year; “Obviously I go to every race to win. I’m not happy with my results this year thus far, but we are working towards fixing the issues. We recently restructured our race prep and are in the process of creating a permanent race prep team here in Las Vegas. We have hired some key off-road veterans including Barry and Cory Beacham from RPS. Our goal is to create the best team possible and go win!”
