The BLM (Bureau of Land Management ) has now named the MORE Powder Puff Race for a CURE a Historic Event and will be allowed for years to come. Next years' event will be held October 10, 2009 in Barstow, California.
MORE encourages all ladies to start preparing for next years' event now in hopes of an even bigger success.
Barstow, Ca (October 13, 2008) — The third annual MORE Powder Puff Race for a CURE event was held this weekend in Barstow, California with over 200 entries to show for the growing event, adding up to well over 400 women participating this weekend. From first time racers to veteran drivers, ladies filled the desert in hopes of having a fun weekend and for a good cause.
MORE promoter Jim Clemmins put together a strong race with all proceeds to directly benefit Cedar-Sinai Breast Cancer Research Center. The last two years MORE has raised over $120,000 to help find a cure for Breast Cancer and that's not the end of it. MORE and the rest of the off road community are dedicated to putting on a race and donating to the CURE for many years to come.
Veteran Class 1 driver Shirley Jergensen was on a mission for a three peat, as she has dominated the past two Powder Puff Races taking the Overall Win both years. Jergensen had a flawless race and made her way from the back of the pack to victory once again.
Julie Meehan, Mary Lou Garivito, Michelle Bruckman, Nicole Garivito and Kellyan Steinberger are amongst a few of the other familiar names in the off road industry to claim victory in this years Race for the CURE. These and 200 other drivers darted around the 23 mile for four hours all vying for a win but most settled for crossing the finishline.
