SCORE Baja 1000 Class 21 Motorcycle Champion, Mikey Childress, flagged down the DirtNewz crew at the Pepsi Stand after climbing off his Honda XR650R. Childress had just completed a full day of wide-open prerunning on his Honda prerunner bike in anticipation of the 38th Annual SCORE Tecate Baja 500.

“We were the first out of the hotel this morning as the sun rose and we’ll be the last ones in. For the past two weeks we have been prerunning and logging big miles. I’m feeling really good on the bike,” commented a smiling Childress.

The prerun crew ran across TSCO’s crew and Mark Weyrich at Ojos Negros after they came in from the first 130 miles and Weyrich said,” The course is going to be great. At first we were a little worried about the tight and technical sections, however the course has really been worn in. We’re ready for a great race.”

CORR Pro-2 Chula Vista Winner, Todd LeDuc caught up with DirtNewz staffers at Papa’s N Beer on Avenida Ruiz in downtown Ensenada as he had his DC Shoes cleaned and polished while preparing for his run at this year’s race. LeDuc said, “Wow, winning the Chula Vista Pro-2 race was awesome and we’re looking forward to heading to Crandon in a couple weeks. I’ve been prerunning this week although I’m not scheduled to race, I’m here ready for the call from any team needing a driver,” as LeDuc smiled widely.
