Moab, Utah (April 3, 2006)

Thousands of Jeep enthusiasts will converge in one of America’s most scenic outdoor theatres beginning April 8, 2006 for the 40th Annual Red Rock 4Wheelers Club famed event, the Easter Jeep Safari. On Saturday, April 16th, Big Saturday’s festivities will end the Jeep Safari completing the fourth decade of wild fun on the slick rock of Moab.

For over a decade, we have attended the Easter Jeep Safari in search of the latest adventures in the off road world and this year will be no different. DirtNewz will be on the rocks providing you with the latest updates from Lion’s Back, Pritchett Canyon and the NEW trail, “Hotel Rock.” DirtNewz staffers will churn up the rocks alongside the nation’s top drivers on the Skyjacker Suspension’s trail ride, as well as the Mastercraft Seats Extravaganza held on the rocks above the quaint town of Moab, Utah. We’ll broadcast a live web cast from the trail and keep you up-to-date about the goings on in and around Moab. Exhilarating video, digital imagery and the latest interviews with the people who make the off road world rock will all come to life at DirtNewz.com for the entire Easter Jeep Safari event.

The nation’s top off road industry manufacturers have planned to show off their latest creations on the gorgeous red rock of Moab, Utah. The massive growth of the off road industry over the past forty years is evident, but not as impressive as the rollout of the millions of dollars of corporate machinery that will take part in a huge two-day off road extravaganza in the wilds of Utah.

The two weekends on each side of the week long Easter Jeep Safari are filled with trail rides, camaraderie, challenging obstacles and the opportunity to see the latest in Jeep trends within the industry.

Jeep Brand (www.jeep.com) in concert with TreadLightly has announced plans to give away a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon to one lucky Easter Jeep Safari attendee. TreadLightly (www.treadlightly.org), a nonprofit organization created 17 years ago to help recreationists minimize their impact on the environment, has a mission to empower generations to enjoy the outdoors responsibly through education and stewardship. The MUD Fund was established in 1992 creating a legal fund for defending trail closure issues involving the Easter Jeep Safari. An incredible army of media and journalists all converge for the Easter Jeep Safari in order to report the latest fashions for Jeeps.

The nation’s top off road legends will be in attendance including Goodyear’s Walker Evans, Skyjacker’s Curt LeDuc, Fox Shox Class 1 Champion John Marking, BFGoodrich sponsored Shannon Campbell / 2005 UROC Pro National Rockcrawling Champion, FABTECH’s 2005 UROC Supercrawl Rockcrawling Champion / Tracy Jordan, FABTECH’s 2005 UROC Modified Stock Supercrawl / Pro National Champion – Brad Lovell, MAC Tools / BFGoodrich sponsored 2005 PRO ROCK National Champion – Dean Bulloch and many other of the nation’s top championship drivers who will all be in town to show and shine for the fans and media.

The Easter Jeep Safari was started in 1967 by the Moab Chamber of Commerce. The first trail was the "Behind the Rocks Trail,” which to this day is an exciting trail that Jeeps are still find challenging. In fact, this year Skyjacker Suspension will host their company sponsored trail ride on Tuesday. Skyjacker Suspension has been a big part of the Easter Jeep Safari for many years and they have always been tremendous hosts throughout Easter Jeep Week.

In 1968, the "Moab Rim" trail was the second trail added. In those days, individual ice cream packages were dropped by airplane to the trails at lunch. That all changed a few years later, and this season the Moab Rim trail will see the who’s who of the off road industry share the trail with Mastercraft Seats CEO-Robbie Pierce. Mastercraft Seats will host their second annual trail ride that will include a catered lunch all served on the trail by Mastercraft staffers. Certainly, a long way from dropping ice cream packages from the air.

The Easter Jeep Safari has grown since the club officially formed and once the event coordination was taken over by the Red Rock 4-Wheelers, the registration moved from the Chamber building north of town, to Lion's Park, and on to what was called "the Barn," which is where McStiff's is currently located near Center and Main.

Over the years with the increase in participation growing on the trails, additional days were added until it finally reached a nine-day event.

The culmination of the Easter Jeep Safari is still "Big Saturday" and remains the biggest day of trail rides throughout the 9-day event. In recent years, the center of the activity was moved to the Spanish Trail Arena located several miles south of downtown Moab on highway 191. On Thursday and Friday, the Spanish Trail Arena will be the location of the Vendor Show where America’s off road manufacturers will showcase their wares for the crowds of Jeep enthusiasts.
