A field of over 150 of the nation’s top off road desert race teams took up Best In The Desert’s CEO – Casey Folks challenge, to tame the race course where off road racing legends have been born. BITD Officials reported an official 183 starters in this year’s race.

In fact, the Best In The Desert Parker 425 race touts the slogan for this race to be, “The Legend Lives On,” and that was the real deal over the weekend at the Blue Water Resort & Casino.

Facing some of the most difficult racing conditions in recent history the nation’s top dogs of the off road racing nation battled like the legends of yesteryear. Without precipitation for well over 100 days, and some locals reporting no rain in Parker, Arizona for almost 180 days, the dry conditions tested the ultimate in performance racing products as well as testing the best off road racers in the world.

Robby Gordon

For weeks it's been rumored that Robby Gordon was racing the BITD Parker in his Hummer H3 Jim Beam/Toyo Tires sponsored truck, but it was only whispers through the industry and no one really wanted to confirm it.

Today in the Arizona desert, the off road racer who led his race team to Africa only a month ago set foot in dirt outside Parker, Arizona where he finished up his time trial late this afternoon.

Robby spent time with DirtNewz.com’s Tim Sanchez, aka “Desertbull,” and caught up with us filling the dirt nation in with the latest in what’s up with Robby Gordon’s efforts on the pavement, Andy McMillin’s great driving and Gordon’s race strategy here in Parker.

Buckshot Racing
Buckshot Racing

Andrew Buck, the president of Buckshot Racing arrived to the Blue Water Resort & Casino today with his brand new Monster Energy drink sponsored Class 1500 car.

At first glimpse one would have thought that Pflueger Racing was in town with for a run in a Class 1500 car, but a real look instead of a glimpse determined that the new Monster Energy drink car was that of Buckshot Racing.

The entire crew emerged from the chase trucks in standard Monster Energy drink racing attire similar to, yep, you guessed it, Pflueger Racing.

No doubt Monster Energy drink continues to Go Big!

The Buckshot Racing Crew told DirtNewz that they’ve tested the car extensively, however they’ve yet to race the car and this race would be the first of many for the innovative designed race car.

One of the crew commented, “And it’s street legal as well.”
