Andy McMillin Ready to Defend Baja 1000 Title

November 9, 2007–The SCORE Baja 1000 is the most prestigious off-road race in the world. This years SCORE Baja 1000 marks the 40th anniversary of the famed race. The race will begin Tuesday morning in the port town of Ensenada, Mexico. Tens of Thousands of spectators will line the start to watch the racers go off the line, through the wash, over the jumps, and rocket out through the streets of Ensenada. This year’s course features a grueling 1,296-mile battle down Mexico’s untamed Baja California peninsula starting in Ensenada, Baja California and finishing in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California.

Andy McMillin was the first four-wheel vehicle to cross the finish line during last years SCORE Baja 1000, effectively winning first in class and first overall four-wheel vehicle. At just 19 years old Andy was the youngest driver ever to win the SCORE Baja 1000. For this year’s race, Andy will be driving the McMillin Red Bull Trophy Truck and splitting driving duties with his father, Scott McMillin and upcoming NASCAR racer Brian Ickler. Andy will start the race and drive to race mile 470, where Ickler will get in and drive to race mile 918. Scott McMillin will finish the race completing the final 378 miles to the finish in Cabo San Lucas.

"We have had a rough year, but I am positive we have worked though our mechanical issues. I have been looking forward to this race all year. This is the one that counts. Baja is my backyard. We have done our homework by pre-running thoroughly and we are ready,” stated the confident McMillin.

Over 500 entries are expected for the 40th SCORE Baja 1000, hailing from 32 U.S. States, from Hawaii to Rhode Island as well as Mexico, Austria, Canada, England, France, Germany, Guatemala, Israel, Italy, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa. The field will include many famous racers and celebrities such as: Jesse James, Brendan Gaughan, Armin Schwarz, J.R. Todd, Boris Said, Danny Sullivan, Ricky Johnson, Rhys Millen, Ken Block, Tanner Foust, and Travis Pastrana. Andy’s uncle, Mark McMillin, will be racing in Class 1 and Andy’s cousin, Daniel will be racing the highly competitive Class 1/2 -1600.

Be sure to come by the Red Bull tent during contingency to get a free autographed hero card and stickers. Andy will be signing autographs at 11:00am.
