Andy McMillin pulls off a top 10 at the SCORE Baja 250

Andy McMillin pulled off a top 10 finish at the SCORE Baja 250 despite losing a drive belt 5 miles from the finish. Battling through dust and traffic, Andy drove the McMillin Red Bull trophy truck the entire 216 mile race, finishing 7th in class and 8th overall with a final time of 4:08:22. Starting off in 18th position, Andy worked his way up to 6th position by the Ojos Negro’s road crossing. Steadily working his way up, Andy was in the top 5 in time before he was temporarily stopped by a broken serpentine drive belt.

 

“It was a heartbreaker, we were so close and I knew losing the drive belt would take us out of top position. Other than the drive belt we had no radio for a while so I wasn’t sure what position we were in. It was a good race and I had a lot of fun! The truck ran great. We just took it easy in the beginning and tried to let the race come to us.” stated Andy.

 

The SCORE Baja 250 features 216 miles of varied terrain beginning in Ensenada and ending in the wine region of Santo Tomas. Replacing the ever popular San Felipe 250, the SCORE Baja 250 was comprised of a field of 393 competitors as well as the usual throngs of spectators.

 

Andy’s cousin, Daniel McMillin, had a good day taking the 1st place win in the highly competitive 1/2 1600 Class.
