Cold, Wind and Dark Clouds fail to
deter fans from meeting their favorite desert racers and
joining in the all the festivities at SCORE Contingency.
Laughlin, Nevada (January 19, 2007) The 2007
class of SCORE Desert Series racers arrived to the school yard
today under blustery cold and windy conditions with serious
threats of rain, but that failed to put a damper on anything
at the Laughlin Events Park.
The school yard is the 6-mile SCORE Laughlin
Desert Challenge race course that will challenge the nation's
top off road racers as they put in motion their pristine off
road race machines. Teams will not only battle the elements
of the Nevada desert, but they compete door-to-door in a man-made
course built here at the Laughlin Events Park.
SCORE reported today that 31 SCORE Trophy Trucks
are officially entered for tomorrow's wild race and 46 SCORE
Class 1 buggies have arrived to the battle field in hopes of
victory, as well as putting on a big show for thousands of
expected fans.
Prerunning began around noon today and ran until
5:00 p.m., but it didn't take long for the carnage to erupt
on the short race course. Within 20 minutes of the start,
reports began to filter in about upside down cars, broken and
stranded trucks and a couple fender benders involving a pair
of trophy trucks.
Racers climbing out of race trucks and prerunners
reported course conditions to be very soft and a littering
of stuck vehicles along the marked trail.
Although, there was much more news than the trials
and tribulations of buried race cars and that was the latest
what's going on in the desert racing world.

GEISER Debuts Right Hand Drive 07 Geiser
Trophy Truck - You're asking yourself right now,
did I read that right? A right hand drive Trophy Truck? YEP,
you're right! Rick Geiser drove a newly built 2007 Geiser
Brothers truck during the prerun today and it was from the
right seat- normally reserved for the likes of co-drivers
like Johnny Kaiser, Tom Geviss and many others. But noooooooo
- Rick Geiser has to be different right? Truth is the truck
was built for an Aussi customer who arrived here to Laughlin
for a little test drive. The truck is amazing to look at...everything
is about the same, just backwards from what we are all used
to!
MONSTER Energy's # 77 Robby Gordon Trophy
Truck- Travis Coyne Set to Drive with Johnny Kaiser Co-Driving! -
Travis Coyne made his debut this afternoon as he roared the
#77 SCORE Trophy Truck through the paces for Robby Gordon
Motorsports. Fitted in a brand new black race suit with a
huge MONSTER Energy logo embroidered on the back, Travis
Coyne strapped on his helmet and ran through his prerun as
expected. Fast...fast and faster. Travis told DIRTnewz, "I'm
passed the nervous stage, the plan is to go out and race
a smart race and get a solid finish. Johnny Kaiser is riding
in the right seat today, but normally that seat will be occupied
by Greg Till, who is still in DAKAR, with Robby Gordon's
HUMMER H3 efforts. GAS ON Travis! Get it Done!
West Coast Choppers - JESSE JAMES Ready
to Rage - James ran through his prerun routine today
without a problem after he suffered a huge crash only a week
ago during testing at Barstow. The truck looks phenomenal
and those wheels are SICKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK! Above the co-driver's
window is the name "Tom Geviss." But it looks like Turbo
Tom Geviss isn't going to make this dance as he's still in
Africa racing the Robby Gordon Motorsports T4 MAN L90 truck.
Turbo is on the verge of making history with his finish in
Africa
G&R Racing's Fast Grandpa Ready to Rock
- Smiling wide, Ron Whitton climbed from his #39
Trophy Truck and said he was ready to race. Soft conditions
and a pack of hungry wolves didn't deter this SCORE Baja
1000 3rd place finisher from this short 6-mile battlefield.
NASCAR's Brendan Gaughn Back In The Dirt
- The NASCAR driver will race the # 143 here in
Laughlin...residing in Vegas and racing the SouthCoast Hotel

All Day Long - Riviera Racing has arrived to the
desert once again in a fabulously prepped truck and Rob Mac
was all smiles today as pushed the # 3 around the race course
and picked out some really cool lines at different places
on the course. Rob smiled and said, "We're coming out to
win." Rob Mac was decked out in Riviera black, a change that
some people didn't even know about. The Riviera Racing booth
at contingency was very busy from the opening to the closing---something
about that # 3 black truck that really draws the crowd.
PINK Class 1 Set to Bang
with the Boyz - Jennifer Clemison, a MORE racer,
has decided to move up to the big leagues and join the fray
on Laughlin's 6-mile war torn dirt track. The buzz is about
what the rear cage of the Playtech built Class 1 is going
to look like after the first day of racing. Racing in Laughlin
is WFO---Buckle Up!

SMD Motorsports - GEISER
Here We Come? -
SMD Motorsports is not racing here at Laughlin, but there was
some buzz about JIMCO or GEISER and the latest from contingency
today was GEISER Brothers! Look for SMD Motorsports to be
racing the #27 Trophy Truck at the BITD Parker 425 in a couple
weeks and hopefully by then we'll hear something more official
from Steve Scaroni.
2006 SCORE Trophy Truck Champ - Ballastic
BJ Baldwin -
"Smooth as silk" is the phrase for the 2007 when describing
BJ Baldwin. Capturing the 2006 SCORE Trophy Truck Championship,
BJ is here with one mission on his mind...of course, he's
ready to fight for another championship. The 26-year old
desert rock star drove his truck around the prerun today
as all the fierce competitors did...WFO!

it happen on the race course tomorrow.
