AGORA HILLS, CA – Nov. 19, 2008 – Timed to coincide with this 41st annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 off-road race, Terminal Velocity Processing today announced a new, multi year partnership with Wide Open Adventures, one of the world’s largest automotive-based adventure companies. Based in Agora Hills, California, Terminal Velocity Processing is an innovative credit card payment processing company that is using a unique, multi-pronged approach that ties motorsports participation with servicing the automotive industry.
Terminal Velocity Processing has entered a multi-year agreement with Wide Open Adventures as the title sponsor for the annual Wide Open Baja Challenge, the most successful Pro-Am “arrive and drive” event in international motorsports. Each year, the Wide Open Baja Challenge represents an unmatched gathering of Wide Open clients, VIP guests, corporate groups and professional racing drivers coming together to compete in the legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Teams of drivers compete in their own class using identically prepared Baja Challenge vehicles; an effort supported by more than 350 support staff, first-class accommodations, pre-race training and course reconnaissance runs and exclusive VIP parties..
Terminal Velocity Processing will join an impressive and broad-reaching list of Wide Open Adventure’s corporate partners, a group that includes Monster Energy Drink, BFGoodrich Tires, KMC Wheels, Bilstein, Eibach Springs, SnugTop, Lowrance and Bully Dog Performance.
“The opportunity to become title sponsor of the newly named Terminal Velocity Wide Open Baja Challenge is very, very exciting due to the fact it represents far more than a traditional motorsports sponsorship,” explained Jim Wilson, CEO of Terminal Velocity Processing. “Not only are we aligning ourselves with an A-list group of automotive aftermarket leaders, but we can also translate the highly unique Pro-Am qualities of this event into highly powerful and wholly unique incentive and hospitality programs. Where else can you invite clientele, retailers and other clients to actually experience driving in one of the world’s great sporting icons?”
This year’s Baja 1000 race begins on Friday morning, November 21st with more than 350 teams expected to leave the Ensenada, Baja, Mexico (just south of San Diego) for a 634-mile through the exotic peninsula. Since 1967, the race has attracted adventure seekers from around the world in a wide variety of trucks, motorcycles, open-wheel race cars and ATVs.
Now in its ninth year, Wide Open’s Baja Challenge has earned an impressive history in the annuls of Baja 1000 history including setting a race record in 2007 by preparing and supporting 18 of 18 cars that finished the 1,200-mile 40th anniversary Baja 1000 – the largest and most successful single team on record. The race normally is so demanding that only 50 percent of contestants normally finish the event under the official time limit.
The Baja Challenge has also hosted such famous names as the late Paul Newman, actor Patrick Dempsey, television star Jesse James, professional racing drivers Roberto Guerrero, Sébastien Bourdais, Rod Millen, Rhys Millen, Elliott-Forbes Robinson, the Groff brothers and Mexico’s Jourdain family.
Terminal Velocity Processing will also tap into Wide Open Adventure’s renowned adventure tours of the Baja peninsula throughout the year. Wide Open’s operation has provided high-speed driving adventures to thousands of clientele since opening its operation in 1998, with 35 Baja Challenge tour cars and headquarter locations in Irvine, Calif., and Ensenada and Cabo San Lucas, Baja, Mexico.. The adventure tours have a long history of creating valuable business-to-business opportunities for myriad of companies in many sectors of the corporate world.
“On behalf of all our Wide Open corporate partners, we are very pleased to welcome Terminal Velocity into our growing family of supporters,” added Todd Clement, managing partner for Wide Open Adventures. “Having Terminal Velocity Processing jump into our annual Baja Challenge and to activate its participation with a year-long hospitality program is not only exciting, but, judging from our history, we are confident it will result in very tangible and positive results.”
Terminal Velocity Racing (“TVR”) is a “give-back” program designed to sponsor and fund auto racing drivers/teams/series; while benefiting the related automotive merchant community.
Sponsorships provided by TVP are a collaborative effort between TVP and the automotive merchant community. Processing fees paid out today by the automotive merchants (revenues to random processors) can now be redirected into sponsorships when TVP processes the transactions.
Put simply – TVP has committed to donate 100% of its net margin derived from transactional fee income we receive from automotive merchants processing with TVP.
