Cenni HEATS Up In Pits and Goes After Curt Greaves in Pushing Match!
On track incident leads to fireworks in CORR Pits
PRIMM, Nev. (May 17, 2008) — The drama continues to unfold here at the 2008 CORR Las Vegas Primm, Nevada Round 3 as on track incidents have moved into the pits.
During Round 3 of racing action, Adrian Cenni drove his blaze orange Pro 4 up onto the safety catch fence while leading the fast paced Pro 4 race. Cenni eventually lost the lead after suffering a problem with his race truck. He was towed by CORR safety officials to the hot pits where his crew began working on his Pro 4 and they got it running again and he rejoined the racing action. Although he was 3-4 laps down to the actual race traffic, Adrian Cenni drove hard mixing it up with the Pro 4 trucks even though he was statiscally out of the race lap wise.
Cenni got into Monster Energy's / Pro Comp Travis Coyne who was racing on the lead lap. Meanwhile, Johnny Greaves Crew Chief/Spotter - Curt Greaves complained to CORR Race Control to admonish the Cenni/Porter Racing Team Manager/Spotter - Mark Porter about having Cenni back off the leaders and allow the race leaders to compete without the interference of the 3 lap down, Adrian Cenni.
An heated exchange occurred between team members from each side and Greaves eventually won the Pro 4 race.
It didn't stop there as Curt Greaves was confronted by Mark Porter at the Greaves pit area. Porter, visibly upset and yelling at both Curt Greaves and Monster Energy's Joe Parsons, the primary sponsor of Greaves Motorsports, about comments made to various team and family members by the the Greaves crew chief. Apparently, Porter's wife became embroiled in the verbal altercation from the onset and descriptive words flew back and forth between each team. Team members from Cenni/Porter Racing chided and challenged team members from Greaves Motorsports.
The dust almost settled as Mark Porter said he was off to talk with CORR - CEO Jim Baldwin about the incident.
At 7:30 p.m. PST, Adrian Cenni arrived to the Greaves pit some three hours after the initial confrontation and became enraged with Curt Greaves and pushed the 2007 Crew Chief of the Year to the ground. Greaves jumped up and the two exchanged heated words.
Cenni then stormed off to seek out CORR CEO - Jim Baldwin in hopes to settle this grudge match.
Adrian Cenni and Mark Porter joined forces for the 2008 CORR Series as both Cenni and Porter suffered challenges throughout the 2007 season. The joint effort has not seen the best of results as yet, although in Round three today, Cenni got the lead and appeared to be off to challenge for the victory until he had the tangle with the 20' foot high safety catch fence.
The heat on the desert floor has begun to settle but apparently tempers have not.
