Primm, Nv
May 16-18, 2008

PRIMM, Nev.–It was a wild day at the Las Vegas International Raceway at Primm, Nevada as MONSTER Energy's Johnny Greaves drove from the 7th starting position after the mandatory inversion by CORR to victory among off road racing's top drivers. The Wisconsin-native drove his Toyota / BFGoodrich / Monster Energy Pro 4 to victory here in Round 3 as he continues his march towards the season championship. Prepped by an elite team of off road racing mechanics led by Johnny's brother, Curt Greaves, the Monster Energy #4 Pro 4 claimed its first victory of the 2008 season.

However, it wasn't without wild racing action. Among some of the best was Adrian Cenni's drive up to the top of the 20-foot race course safety fence and back down. While leading the race, Cenni drove his blaze orange Pro 4 into the final turn of the race course and drove up on the concrete embankment (k-rail), which many drivers had been doing. Although, Cenni actually drove above the k-rail and all the way to the top of the safety catch fence that is nearly 20 feet in height. Cenni was fortunate as his truck began to drop and the fence saved the pit area from the high-speed launching race truck.

Thousands of fans, all standing on their feet, gasped as Cenni flew high and appeared to be headed out of the stadium but only at the top did his truck drop back onto the race course averting certain catastrophic circumstances had his race truck left the stadium.

Cenni raced down the fence, but only a lap later he gave up the lead to Scott Douglas racing the #7 Amsoil Pro 4. Douglas and Greaves battled for a few laps before Douglas experienced problems that appeared to be highly flammable with fire coming out of the left rear side.

Greaves took the lead and battled with Rick Huseman for several laps before a full-course yellow caution flag came out due to a crash and subsequent fire on Troy Herbst Primm Valley Casino's sponsored - Pro 4.

Herbst scrambled out of the truck as CORR emergency staffers extinguished the fire and the full field of racers came to a halt on the hot race track. Temperatures on the track reached nearly 110 degrees as CORR racers battled on the track and the weather conditions in search of the checkered flag.

But in the end it was all Johnny Greaves as the Wisconsin-native was cheered by thousands of fans packing the stadium as the black and green Pro 4 parked on the podium.

Monster's Pro 2 Jeremy McGrath 2nd Steps onto Podium with motocross compadre Johnson

PRIMM, Nev.–Round 3 of the CORR Pro 2 race started with a big bang as a huge field of racers battled for position early. Rockstar's Rob MacCachren, who had qualified in the pole position, ended up starting 8th as the top eight racers were inverted after CORR officials made the inversion decision. MacCachren made his way up through the field and was racing hard with Carl Renezeder and made his way cleanly around Renezeder to take the lead once again. However, Renezeder came back strong and in turn two he slid all the way into MacCachren forcing him into the k-rail and flattening a left side front tire that rendered MacCachren out of the field.

After the mandatory yellow caution flag at the midway point, Red Bull's Ricky Johnson jumped out to the lead and never looked back, although he was chased by McGrath, Renezeder and Jerry Whelchel. The race was filled with on track metal melee's between several upset drivers that took to bumping steel tube against each other to settle differences. It was one hell of an exciting race as the legend of Supercross racing, Ricky Johnson ended up taking the top spot.

Huge field of Pro Lites entertain packed grandstands Kincaid Rails to Victory over Rob Naughton, Rodrigo Ampudia, Chris Brandt and Nissan's Todd Cuffaro

PRIMM, Nev.–A huge field of nearly 30 Pro Lites took the dirt track here at the Las Vegas International Raceway at Primm in search of victory and the CORR Champion from years gone by was back in top form winning again. Jeff Kincaid, a Crandon, Wisconsin native drove his Traxxis/Toyota Potowatomi Casino Pro Lite to victory in front of a huge crowd of ravaged racing fans.

Michigan's Chad Hord jumped to an early start and drove away from the field and seemed destined to reign victory once again, but he was sidelined after his race truck got hot and he had to back off the throttle to hold the motor together. Hord, sponsored by BOSS Snowplow, railed through the big bumps jamming his FOX Racing Shox suspension to full tilt before he was forced to pull off and idle around the track.

Readylift sponsored - Rob Naughton drove fast as he stayed close to Jeff Kincaid but did not have enough to get around Kincaid although he pushed hard in the final couple laps. In fact, in the final turn it looked like Naughton had enough dive inside Kincaid, but Jeff held on to take the win as Naughton came out of the turn a tad bit slower.

Mexico's Papa's N Beer racer, Rodrigo Ampudia, drove a clean and fast race to take the third spot and put him in a good position leading into Sunday's Pro Lite finale. Ampudia, the 2007 Crandon Pro Lite World Champion, drove a strategic race after he suffered major damage in the Pro 2 race.

Chris Brandt made his final charge pulling away from Nissan/UPR sponsored - Todd Cuffaro, who survived multiple brushes with Matt Barney and Rockstar's Brian Deegan in the second half of the race. Brandt finished the race in an impressive top four finish. Cuffaro had a bad start as he bobbled the throttle during a shift heading down the front straightaway. That put the Nissan/UPR Pro Lite in a position to charge back towards the front which he did. Cuffaro said, "I made a mistake early, but we got lucky and continued to charge through the pack. I'm fortunate to round out the top five after that race. We will be working hard on the truck tonight and we'll be ready for Sunday's round 4.

Led by Pro 4 Racer - Johnny Greaves, Pro Lite Jeff Kincaid and Pro 2 Ricky Johnson - FOX Racing Shox separates champions from the rest of the field

PRIMM, Nev.–CORR Racers equipped with FOX Racing Shox dominated the race course today like we've not seen in the past. Every Pro race and the single-buggy race was won by drivers utilizing the latest in advanced racing shock technology and today it shined through.

Starting with Menzie's Motorsports single-buggy racer, Bryan Freeman, the win streak began early under very hot weather conditions here on the Southern Nevada desert floor. Freeman, an experienced winning desert racer put his keen skills to task as he went after the win early in the day using FOX Racing Shox.

Immediately following the Freeman single-buggy victory, Rob MacCachren took to the dirt in his Menzies Motorsports Pro Buggy and captured yet another victory along with taking FOX Racing Shox to the top. Rob MacCachren said, "I've won many championships on FOX Racing Shox and the plan this year is to do the same. FOX Racing Shox works closely with many racers and they provide us trackside support tuning and providing any components we may want to change. FOX Racing Shox is one of the reasons that I'm able to run my Pro Buggy as hard as I do."

Once the Pro buggy race concluded, CORR opening ceremonies commenced the Pro 2 field of nearly 25 trucks took to the track and Red Bull's Ricky Johnson, driving the Red Bull / Barlow Motorsports Pro 2 equipped with 3.0 Triple Bypass FOX Racing Shox, out dualed the entire field to take the win in the challenging Pro 2 class.

Multiple-winning CORR Champion, Jeff Kincaid, pulled out onto the track and fought off the top five Pro Lite racers who all were equipped with FOX Racing Shox. Kincaid just beat out the 2007 CORR Champion, Robert Naughton and Mexico's Papa's N Beer racer, Rodrigo Ampudia. In fourth was FOX racer, Chris Brandt and Nissan/UPR Racing Supply sponsored Todd Cuffaro...all FOX Racing Shox supported racers.

Topping off the perfect day was the Monster Energy Pro 4 racer, Johnny Greaves, who patiently waited for the right timing to charge to the front and take the overall win beating out a couple other FOX Racing Pro 4 sponsored racers including Amsoil sponsored Scott Douglas and Red Bull's Steve Barlow.

Greaves commented, "Big thanks to John Marking and the entire FOX Racing Shox crew for the support in our victory today. The #4 Pro 4 ran great today and we just had to wait for an opening before we could make the charge. We've working very close with John Marking and Todd Tenbroek in setting up this truck and once again we have made it better than ever. The truck worked very good in the big bumps today and we made the run and got the flag. We'll be charging hard tomorrow in search of the double up victories."

Vegas' MacCachren qualifies first in Pro-2 - Louisana's Marty Hart in Pro Lite

Primm, Nevada – Living the dream of a professional race car driver is one thing, but to grow up among the dirt and rocks of the nation’s off road race courses is yet another.  Many racers kids have been raised in the pits of remote tracks throughout the nation whether it’s pavement racing or dirt racing.

The world of Championship Off Road Racing opened up another chapter in their historic series as one of those kids who grew up in and around the off road tracks of the nation stepped up big on Friday evening to take the pole position in the elite Pro 4 field.

Facing the icons of off road racing’s top professional class, Scott Douglas, Johnny Greaves, Carl Renezeder, Curt LeDuc and others, The Rockstar Kid – Kyle LeDuc, put his FORD Pro 4 in the pole position for Saturday’s main event at the Las Vegas International Raceway.

The name LeDuc rings a familiar tone with fans of off road racing as the LeDuc family has been racing across the nation for over 20 years.  Led by the race team patriarch, Curt LeDuc, the family has trekked across the highways of America in search of the checkered flag at off road races everywhere.

It was only a few years ago that Kyle LeDuc captured the CORR Pro Lite Championship and now in his first year of Pro 4 racing and only in the second weekend of racing action this season, the young LeDuc, raised some eyebrows as he impressed many of his peers here in the pits at the Las Vegas Primm race track.  Held at the Primm Valley Resort & Casinos facility and directly behind the Terrible’s Buffalo Bills Resort, Kyle LeDuc railed his Rockstar FORD Pro 4 around the corners and over some of the biggest bumps experienced on the circuit to beat out all other racers for the pole position.

The talk among the racers in the pits throughout the night was centered around the youngest LeDuc and the debut of his new Pro 4 that was literally finished only minutes before the first race of the season at Pomona. Since that weekend, LeDuc has refined several components on his truck and has had time to test and set up suspension in order to perfect his run for the checkers.

In the highly competitive Pro 2 Class, Rockstar’s Rob MacCachren, who won both of the Pro 2 races in the opening weekend, was once again on fire setting the fastest lap in the Dave Clarke-built FORD Pro 2.  MacCachren appeared on Las Vegas’ Channel 8 for an hour long during the morning drive news show and has also been pulled in many different directions by the media before this weekend’s racing, however when it comes down to sitting in his office chair he’s all business.

Designed with input from the multi-championship winning driver, Dave Clarke has built perhaps the most advanced Pro 2 truck in recent history for a driver that many regard as the best off road racer in the world.  MacCachren climbed into his #21 Pro 2 to set the fastest time on the track and set the pace for the competition throughout the weekend.

Clark stood high atop the skybox location with his head covered in his spotter communications headset talking to MacCachren as he weaved his magic through some of the slower traffic.

MacCachren told DIRTnewz, “It was a good run.  Dave and the crew have once again put together an incredible truck for this weekend and we’re going to rally this Menzies Motorsports team to the podium.  BFGoodrich has once again given us a championship winning tire and now it’s up to me to make this happen on the track.  We’re hoping for some luck and we’ll get out in front and run in some clean air and see what happens.”

Taking the other two positions in the top three were Red Bull’s Ricky Johnson and CHM Motorsports – Jerry Whelchel.  Both Johnson and Whelchel are MacCachren foes that have all race hard against each other for many seasons.

Louisana’s Marty Hart took his Maxxis sponsored Pro Lite to the top spot over another Maxxis sponsored racer, Robert Naughton, in the fight for the number one qualifying position.  Nissan’s / UPR sponsored Todd Cuffaro pushed his Nissan Pro Lite to the fourth qualifying positioning that puts him on the outside of the second row for Saturday’s main event.

With over 30 Pro Lite racers at Rounds 3 & 4 of the 2008 CORR Series, CORR Officials announced that only 18 racers will take the green flag in the Pro Lite Main Event.  With the cut off at 18 trucks, many teams will miss the chance to run for glory and will have to settle for racing for a top spot in the B-Main event.
