Rounds 7 & 8

Jerry Whelchel started on the pole and led the entire race until the FINAL lap. Carl Renezeder started 3rd and made his way into 2nd after only a few laps. On the final lap he made contact with Jerry Whelchel and sent him flying into the burm. Whelchel saved it but Carl Renezeder made the pass and took the win. This will cap off Carl's 61st win in his CORR career.

4:50 PM LIVE UPDATECarl Renezeder took the lead right after the red flag restart and never looked back. Fighting with long time competitor Johnny Greaves, the two battled for the lead and Renezeder came out on top to capture his second win of the day, dominating in both the Pro 2 and Pro 4 races.

4:45 PM LIVE UPDATE

  • Lap 11: Renezeder, Greaves, Douglas, K. Leduc, E. Herbst, Tim Herbst, Troy Herbst, Coyne, Huseman, Curt Leduc
  • Tim Herbst rolls as Travis Coyne slides under the truck unharmed
  • It's Carl Renezeder in the lead going for his second win of the day!!

4:40 PM LIVE UPDATE

  • The three Herbst brothers, Tim, Ed and Troy, are racing side by side in 6th, 7th and 8th places
  • At the start of the 6th lap it's: Renezeder, Greaves, Huseman, Douglas and then Kyle Leduc
  • At the restart Troy Herbst is on two wheels in turn five and right behind him Baldwin rolls hard coming off the big 'Monster Mountain'
  • Kyle Leduc and Douglas fighting for third place and Kyle rolls in turn three, lands on all four wheels and doesn't lose a position...although he loses a few truck lengths on Douglas

4:30 PM LIVE UPDATE

  • The flag goes green again and Renezeder takes the lead with Johnny Greaves right behind him
  • Curt Leduc gets sideways in turn 3 and gets nailed in the side
  • Baldwin limps into the hot pits with a flat, gets it changed but didn't make it back onto the lead lap
  • Rick Huseman made his way into third place and is fighting for the lead
  • Daughtery rolls his truck and causes the entire field to slow down and get off their pace

4:25 PM LIVE UPDATE

  • The Bully Dog pace truck is off the track and the race is green
  • The checkered flag dropped and Steve Barlow came off the first table top too high, rolled three times in the air before hitting the ground. Unfortunatly that will be the end of Barlow's day, his crew will be working all night long trying to get that truck ready for tomorrow's race

4:20 PM LIVE UPDATE

  • Brother-in-law's Carl Renezeder and Josh Baldwin will start in the front row in the Pro-4 race. With Johnny Greaves and Scott Douglas close behind the show is about to start
  • Dirtnewz staffers spoke with Kyle "The Kid" Leduc earlier today and he told us that he's planning on taking it easy and making his way to the front once again. Finishing on top gave him the energy and confidence in his new truck and he now feels that he can run with the fastest Pro-4 drivers out there.

4:15PM LIVE UPDATE

Naughton charges to the front with Bryce Menzies Capturing his first ever Pro Lite Podium

Robert Naughton may have qualified first yesterday but he had to work his way to the front as he started 8th after the inversion. Naughton made his way thru the field to capture his second win of the season in his Maxxis Tires Pro Lite. Bryce Menzies made him work for it as Bryce started right in front of Naughton and charged hard to take his first ever podium in his rookie Pro Lite season.

4:10 PM LIVE UPDATE

  • Marty Hart fell off the pace just a tad as Robert Naughton made the pass as did Bryce Menzies who captured his first ever podium as a rookie in the Pro Lite class this season
  • Robert Naughton takes the win with Bryce Menzies finishing on the podium for the first time this season and Marty Hart in third
  • Casey Currie's fuel cap fell off and fuel cell is filled with rocks and dirt causing problems after the restart. Possible ignition failure.

4:00 PM LIVE UPDATE

  • Bryce is feeling the pressure from Robert Naughton while Casey Currie is falling off the pace
  • Currie back in 5th after leading the first few laps
  • Chuck Dempsey doing donuts in turn one
  • After 9 laps Naughton and Menzies fighting for second place
  • It's three wide down the front stretch, Hart, Naughton and Menzies
  • Kincaid has just been black flagged

3:50 PM LIVE UPDATE

  • After 6 laps Menzies and Currie fighting for second place with Naughton holding onto 3rd place
  • Caution, after 8 laps: Hart, Menzies, Naughton, Brandt, Kincaid, Wallace, Ampudia, Daughtery
  • Brian Deegan pulls into the hot pits

3:45 PM LIVE UPDATE

  • Currie gets the holeshot in turn one but Chris Brandt hot on his tail and makes contact in turn two but Currie holds the lead
  • Hart on a mission and passes Brandt on the first lap
  • Naughton trying to catch up from 8th place
  • Huge pile up in turn 6 - Hord gets slammed! Kincaid, Ampudia, Bruce Fraley and many others caught up as Verdone comes into the pile up hot and rolls his truck
  • Hord back running and trying to make his way back to the lead lap
  • Lap 3- Currie, Hart, Menzies, Brandt, Naughton, Wallace, Daughtery, Ampudia

Carl Renezeder Passes on the Final Lap to Take the Lead in Chula Vista for his First Win of the Season

CHULA VISTA, Calif.(July 26, 2008)Jerry Whelchel started on the pole and led the entire race until the FINAL lap. Carl Renezeder started 3rd and made his way into 2nd after only a few laps. On the final lap he made contact with Jerry Whelchel and sent him flying into the burm. Whelchel saved it but Carl Renezeder made the pass and took the win. This will cap off Carl's 61st win in his CORR career.

Whelchel agrees that it was clean racing and is excited to be on the podium. "Me and Carl raced clean..a little touch here and there doesn't bother me." Although Whelchel didn't mind the little tap, the fans out here in the stands didn't agree as they chanted "boo.."

3:30 PM UPDATE

  • The leaders are on their final lap and Carl Renezeder makes contact with Jerry Whelchel sending him into the burm as Renezeder takes the lead
  • Whelchel on two wheels trying to hang onto second
  • It's Renezeder, Whelchel and Rob MacCachren on the podium

3:25 PM UPDATE

  • Todd Leduc tried to make a move on Renezeder but gets passed by Rob MacCachren in turn two of the restart. Rob MacCachren isn't holding anything back in search of a win here in Chula Vista
  • Adrian Cenni pulls into the puts as does Steve Sourapas
  • Jeremy McGrath making his way up the field charging hard behind Greg Adler and Todd Leduc
  • Three wide as Whelchel, Renezeder and Rob Mac fight for the top stpot
  • Champion Whelchel isn't giving up as he holds on to the lead

3:20 PM UPDATE

  • After 8 laps of racing: Jerry Whelchel, Carl Renezeder, Todd Leduc, Rob MacCachren, Jeremy McGrath, Adler, Greaves, Pflueger, Taylor, Ampudia, Sourapas, M. Johnson, Geiser, Oberg, Wyllie, Cenni, Schovajsa, Jenkins, Shoaff, G. Woods, Busnardo, R. Johnson, Jones, Evans, Davis,

3:17 PM UPDATE

  • Rodrigo Ampudia and Steve Sourapas bang fenders
  • Jesse Jones is almost missing all of his body panels and has liquid spewing out of his truck, we'll see how long he can hang on

3:15 PM UPDATE

  • Evan Evans in his brand new Pro 2 trying to hang on to the lead lap as Whelchel and Renezeder are reeling him in

3:10 PM UPDATE

  • Whelchel gets the lead after turn one, every truck makes it out clean
  • With only two laps completed Whelchel maintains the lead with Carl Renezeder on his bumper
  • Leduc was passed by Renezeder and is trying to hold on to third place and come out on top for the third race in a row
  • Jeremy McGrath is pushing it to the limits on two wheels thru turn 4

3:00 PM UPDATE

  • Adrian Cenni qualified out of order yesterday and was moved to the back of the pack. Cenni will now have to make his way thru 24 fire breathing Pro 2 trucks, all hungry for a win
  • Don't forget to check out the race LIVE on SPEED Channel now!!!
  • Pro-2 race is about to get underway. All trucks are lined up, belted in and waiting for the green flag to drop

2:30 PM UPDATE

  • The Trophy Kart modified race was just interupted during lap 6 as their was a caution on the track and not one driver slowed down.

Menzies' Rob MacCachren and Larry Job on the Pole in Pro Buggy after Qualifying 9th and 10th in Yesterday's Round 7 Qualifyer

2:15 PM UPDATE

  • Mike Porter takes the lead as he passes Greg George in turn 5
  • Rob MacCachren shows the entire crowd that he has what it takes no matter what he is driving as he moved from last place to finish in 10th place.

2:10 PM UPDATE

  • Greg George leads on the final lap with Mike Porter on his tail.
  • Rob MacCachren making his way thru the field trying to fight to the front

2:05 PM UPDATE

  • Rob MacCachren pulls into the pits on the caution with a right rear flat, crew makes record time and MacCachren makes it out on the lead lap in 23rd place behind 2007 Pro 2 Champion Jerry Whelchel
  • Troy Herbst having problems as the course goes green

2:00 PM UPDATE

  • After qualifying 9th and 10th Menzies' Pro Buggy drivers Rob MacCachren adn Larry Job lead the field of 31 around the first corner at Chula Vista International Raceway.
  • Vic Bruckman spins in turn two on first lap, three cars suffer
  • Rob MacCachren still leads the field
