Chula Vista, California
September 12-14, 2008

Rounds 11 & 12

September 16, 2008 — Team Red Bull/BOSCH battled bad luck to finish on the podium at round 11 and 12 at Chula Vista International Raceway. Fans turned out in force to watch the massive field of CORR trucks fight for their spot on the podium at the spectacular Chula Vista International Raceway.

Blue skies prevailed above the challenging course, which included a screaming fast front straightaway and giant sweeping off camber turn one. The weekend would unfold as another spectacular two days of Championship Off-Road Racing.

Belvidere, IL (September 16, 2008) — After win the BorgWarner Cup in Crandon, WI, Scott Taylor  and his team only had a few days to prep his truck for the rigors of Championship Off-Road Racing’s Round 11 and 12 at The Quarry. Currently, Taylor Racing is in eighth place in the CORR PRO-2 standings, and with only five rounds of racing before the Baldwin Cup, every championship point is more valuable than ever.

4:30PM UPDATE - Marty Hart took his #15 Pro Lite to victory here in Chula Vista, California. Hart battled to the end with Casey Currie who finished on the podium for the third time this season. Currie has told us before that he was having a tough season this year, especially since he is running his own team. Currie felt that he struggled after the mandatory caution. He has led before and lost it after the caution and it seemed to be a repeat today. Currie led more than half of the race and lost the lead just before the caution to Marty Hart. Casey charged hard after falling back to the fourth place position to land his Bully Dog/ Speed Technologies Pro Lite to the podium for the third time this season.

Chula Vista, CA, (September 16, 2008) - Johnny Greaves finished another great weekend of CORR racing by putting his Monster Energy Potawatomi Tundra Pro 4 back on the podium and sending a strong message to the crowd that the Monster Energy Toyota Pro 2 is now up to speed and ready to compete from the front.  Greaves finished 2nd in the Pro 4 event with a “photo finish” with Kyle LeDuc at the checkered. This capped-off a strong weekend for the BFGoodrich driver in both classes with podium finishes in 3 out of 4 races.

CHERRY VALLEY, Calif (September 16, 2008) - Kyle LeDuc keeps redefining himself. The youngest member of Rockstar Makita Team LeDuc started his rookie season in Championship Off-Road Racing’s Pro 4 class wanting to get a podium finish before the 8-event, 16-round season was over. He did that with a second-place finish in round four.

He wanted to establish himself as a consistent front-runner, and he did that with top 10 finishes in three of the next four rounds. Then came the first win, at Pomona on Aug. 16, and LeDuc said that was “huge.” Then on Saturday (Sept. 13), after he had held off defending class champion Carl Renezeder for his second win, LeDuc talked of being “one of the big boys” in the class.

El Cajon, CA (September 16, 2008) – After a horrific, end over end practice crash, Chad Hord got behind the wheel of the team’s backup truck, looking to garner as many points as possible for the #7 AMSOIL Kumho Tire Sycuan Casino Ford F-150. 3:00PM UPDATE - Jerry Whelchel is no rookie to being victorious in the Pro 2 class but struggled to capture that big win this season. It was truely down to the wire as Whelchel and Renezeder were fender to fender once again here in Chula Vista. The last time CORR visited this track Whelchel fell second to Renezeder in almost a repeat of today's race although Whelchel came out on top today. "It's a great feeling, we finally got the monkey off our back...Carl Renezeder raced me clean this time. I know Carl is a clean racer and we had a great race," quoted Whelchel at the finish.

Rob MacCachren once again put on a show for his fans, after pulling into the pits to change a flat he passed the entire field to land in 5th place right in front of his Menzies Motorsports teammate Bryce Menzies. This is the second Pro 2 race for the 21 year old Menzies Motorsports driver. In his first ever Pro 2 race in Pomona, California Bryce landed in the 10th position and now here in Chula Vista has moved his way up to 6th.

2:30PM UPDATE - Although Rodrigo Ampudia may have had the fastest time in yesterday's Round 11 qualifier he will start in the 4th row due to an inversion of the Top 8. In the front row and on the pole is 2007 Pro 2 Champion Jerry Whelchel and Greg Adler.

This weekend's race is the sixth stop of the eight race series as San Diego resident, Todd Cuffaro, leads the 2008 class of CORR Pro Lite rookies in the championship point's standings.  In fact, the 24-year old racer is fifth in overall point's chase sharing the top five spots with several previous CORR Pro Lite champions.

Newport Beach, CA (September 9, 2008)—Championship Off Road Racing and Traxxas, The Fastest Name in Radio Control™ have teamed up to enhance the lives of children by donating all proceeds from the Traxxas Try-Me-Track to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

After its success in Pomona, the Traxxas Try-Me-Track will be back at the upcoming CORR event on September 13 and 14 in Chula Vista.

The scaled-down track gives race fans the chance to do some of their own racing by testing out Traxxas’ new Slash radio-controlled short course off-road race trucks. All RC drivers are asked to donate $1 to race; Traxxas then makes an additional matching contribution.  All proceeds will be donated to the local charity.

Riverside, CALIFORNIA - Rick Huseman Racing returns to the Chula Vista International Raceway for Rounds 11 & 12 on September 13-14, 2008.  The No.3 Pro 4 race truck will feature TRAXXAS bedside logos after Rick Huseman Racing and TRAXXAS announced a marketing partnership for the remainder of the 2008 Championship Off Road Racing season.

Earlier in the year, Mike competed in Crandon’s June race, taking first place in the PRO-2WD division in the FCP Chairman’s Cup. Oberg Motorsports was looking for similar results when they returned for the 39th annual BorgWarner Off-Road Championships.
