Pistol qualified the truck in 6th place, however early in the first race on Saturday, he lost a belt in the first lap, once repaired Pistol tore through the track passing vehicles at will, but then mechanical problems struck again when the motor blew and a rod shot through the oil pan ending his weekend.

Las Vegas, NV - The SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge is one of the more unique off-road races of the season in that it mixes the best of long distance desert racing with spectator friendly short course. The race consists of two days of racing eight laps around a rugged 6.25-mile course, including an infield with the famous “Laughlin Leap” as part of the course.  Racers start two vehicles wide, drag racing to the first jump leading out into the treacherous Nevada desert.

LAKE FOREST, CA (January 29, 2008) - After much debate at the start of the weekend as to whether the 48-mile races each day of the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge would be attrition or sprint races, by the end of the weekend, both turned out to be true.  A team had to survive the course, but it also had to be quick to bring home a trophy.  For Carl Renezeder and his Lucas Oil/BFGoodrich Trophy Truck, the event had its highs and lows, ultimately ending in a win on Sunday afternoon amidst a rain-soaked, heavily rutted course.

We built it for him as kind of a thing on air. We did the whole thing on TV and when we were done it was time to race it. You couldn’t ask for a better day.
