Robby Gordon's MAN Assistance Truck #524 Piloted by Turbo Tom Geviss Crashed out of 09' DAKAR

Jacobacci, Argentina - January 6, 2008 - DIRTnewz received a satellite telephone call from Turbo Tom Geviss, the driver of the #524 Robby Gordon Motorsports MAN assistance truck at 1:21 p.m. Pacific Standard Time today.

He reported that his #524 MAN Assistance truck was out of the DAKAR Rally after a harrowing crash that has rendered the MAN diesel assistance race truck with heavy damage that has left them no other option than to quit the race. Geviss reported that he has been working on the race truck for the past 24 hours hoping to temporarily fix the truck enough to limp back to Buenos Aires along the highway. The team will have to travel some 750 miles over the highways back to massive city of Buenos Aires.

Robby Gordon Motorsports updated the suspension of the 2009 version of the #524 MAN truck completing the 4-link suspension and utilizing custom Robby Gordon race shocks on the heavy diesel truck before the race.

Geviss told DIRTnewz that he along with the two navigators in the truck lost a "heim" at speed and careened out of control crashing violently, but no one sustained any injuries. The race truck suffered heavy damage to the suspension, as well as the entire side of the race truck.

"We've been working on this thing for hours and hours and I'm hoping to just get it back together so we can limp back to Buenos Aires," said a tired and dejected Tom Geviss.

The #524 MAN truck is an integral part of the Robby Gordon Motorsports team carrying important HUMMER H3 race truck components on the race course for the #309 and #325 Robby Gordon Motorsports team.
