Rockstar Energy Racing’s Rob MacCachren Climbs to Podium at PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY in Front of Packed House of RACE FANS!

Las Vegas, Nevada — Thousands of fans crowded into one of Southern California’s most famous dirt tracks, the Perris Auto Speedway, last weekend to watch their favorite off road racing star battle under the lights in Rounds 3-4 of the 2009 TORC Off Road Racing Series. The fans were not disappointed as fiberglass and steel tube exploded all over the track in the wild Pro 2WD race.

Facing perhaps the fiercest competition short course racing has seen in the past year, Rockstar Energy Racing’s Rob MacCachren drove his gloss black #11 Ford F150 to the podium on Friday night after weaving his way through the epic carnage. MacCachren charged towards the front of the pack early, pressuring Ricky Johnson and Jeremy McGrath who were war torn as they race for the lead. Driving the #11 Rockstar Energy Racing FORD, MacCachren happily settled into the third spot until the mandatory competition yellow flag lap.

The racetrack at the Perris Auto Speedway featured a .50 mile race track which was very tight and technical making it very difficult to pass.

As the green flag dropped, MacCachren was poised to seize any opportunity he could to get around McGrath and Johnson. The Las Vegas off road racer reached deep into his bag of tricks to gain more grip on the slick track and vault towards the front. However, in the end it was Johnson who was able to make it to the checkers before the rest of the PRO 2WD field.

Claiming the runner-up position on the podium, MacCachren added valuable points in his quest to claim his second consecutive PRO 2WD championship.

MacCachren explained, “We struggled a bit with the Rockstar Energy Racing FORD F150 tonight, but once again, we were able to make the runner-up position in our run for the series championship. Every point is necessary and it’s still very early in the year. I feel confident we’ll be right there in the hunt for the championship come November.”

Saturday’s race action was wild as the nation’s top drivers bashed bumpers entertaining thousands of fans who packed into the Perris Auto Speedway. MacCachren mashed the pedal of the #11 FORD F150 PRO 2WD in search of the top spot, however he was unable to dart to the front of the pack as the fierce competition railed around the race course.

“We certainly have experienced some of the new team blues in a few instances so far this season. Nonetheless, we managed to finish just outside the top three in fourth place and the entire team has learned another valuable lesson. On the bright side we are second in the 2009 TORC Series Pro2WD points race only 22 points out of first with 12 rounds of racing in front of us. This Rockstar Energy Racing team is in great shape as we set our sights on the next race at Crandon International Raceway in a few weeks,” said team owner/driver Rob MacCachren.

The veteran short course racer has compiled three Borg-Warner Championships in consecutive years at the famed Crandon racetrack along with three additional Governor Cup Championships. The MacCachren Motorsports trophy cabinet is full of Crandon victories and is steep in Wisconsin heritage.

“Crandon is a special place and I’ve performed well at this track and this season should be no different. The Rockstar Energy Racing team is on target for a serious run at the season championship and I expect to be contending for the series championship in each and every race,” said MacCachren.

The Rockstar Energy Racing FORD F150 is slated to race at Crandon International Raceway on June 20-21, 2009 in northern Wisconsin.

The one-hour ABC Sports television show from the 2009 TORC Series Rounds 3-4 at Perris Auto Speedway is set to air on June 7th on ABC at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

In the one-hour ESPN2 television show that was shown on May 24, 2009, the Rockstar Energy Racing team was featured including exclusive in-car footage as the multi-time champion worked his magic behind the wheel of his black FORD F150 race truck.
