June 21, 2009 CRANDON, WIS. –

Saturday RACE Report:

An eight year absence for one of the winningest PRO racer ever to set foot in the famed dirt of Crandon International Raceway didn’t stop him from setting yet another record this past Saturday. Rob MacCachren started his #11 Rockstar Energy Racing Ford F150 from the fifth position in the land rush start and he never looked back.

Charging his race truck into the dangerous first turn, the man they call, “MacCrandon,” threaded the tight space of the two race trucks on either side of him as all three race trucks flew over the first jump in front of 20,000 screaming fans. MacCachren landed in the dirt and he set his sights on the other Rockstar Pro 2 piloted by Todd LeDuc.

The two Rockstar Pro 2’s were the class of the field as round five of the 2009 TORC TRAXXAS season churned up the dirt and rocks of the forty-year old track. By the mandatory midway caution flag, the two Rockstar’s MacCachren and LeDuc had pulled away from the rest of the field.

It was 2001 when Rob MacCachren last raced here at Crandon International Raceway. And halfway through his first race in over eight years at Crandon, he demonstrated the magic the he had from 1995-2001 was back.

The chants of the crowd were heard as the gloss black FORD F150 Rockstar Energy Racing truck put on a grand performance in front of thousands of people all standing on their feet.

With three laps to go at the 1.65 mile race course, “MacCrandon,” wasted no time and put an inside out move on Rockstar’s LeDuc and railed around the outside of the ‘Gravel Pit’ to take the lead. Rob never looked back enroute to his 10th consecutive victory at Crandon International Raceway.

Crandon International Raceway is often regarded as the ‘Indianapolis Raceway’ of the off road racing world. For the last four decades, the world of off road racing has seen the best of the best arrive to this track in search of victory.

However, today it was all about Rob MacCachren spinning his magical web over the track where his name is synonymous with winning.

Rob MacCachren captured his first CUP victory in the spring of 1995, when the young off road racer took the world of off road by surprise and claimed the first of six CUP victories. To date the Rockstar Energy Racing driver has won three Brush Run Chairman’s CUP victories (1995, 2000, 2001) as well as three Borg-Warner World Championship CUP wins (1999, 2000, 2001)

MacCachren is the only racer since track records were established in 1970 to hold six total CUP victories, when combining the Brush Run and Borg-Warner Shootout races.

Rockstar Energy Racing’s Rob MacCachren will be in search of dual victories on Sunday as he gets into the dirt on for round 6 of the 2009 TORC TRAXXAS season series. The final race of the day will be the 2009 Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run Chairman’s Cup. In all previous years at Crandon International Raceway, MacCachren raced a Pro 4WD, but Sunday he’ll race the #11 Pro 2WD in hopes to beat out the field of the nation’s top off road racers.

The victory in round five places Rob MacCachren in second place with 103 points trailing leader, Ricky Johnson by a mere 15 points. This season’s Pro 2WD field includes the top 18 of the nation’s Pro 2WD racers.
