The Fab School - Leading, Guiding & Teaching the Off Road Industry Newcomers

Anaheim, California - (January 2, 2006)

The Fab School

With the rising need of qualified fabricators in the off road industry, a new fabrication school has opened its doors.

The Fab School is California’s newest state certified automotive/off-road fabrication school. CEO/Founder, Troy Johnson has been deeply rooted in the industry for nineteen years and is well-known for his detailed craftsmanship for some of the leading factory teams such as, Walker Evan’s Dodge, Darren Skilton’s Kia, Mike Leslie’s Lucas Ford and Jeep, and Curt LeDuc’s Ford program.

Troy has traveled around the world with Kia as a crew chief at the Dakar Rally in the year 2000. He is also known for his innovative designs and inventions such as the TJF Treadlockers, TJF Rapid Release Light Mount and motorized light bar.

Johnson has owned a fabrication business for nine years and throughout the duration he has been approached by multiple companies looking for qualified fabricators. Johnson Fabrication routinely struggles filling their own employment needs.

“Within our industry we are always on the search for top rated talent. We often end up training them for months at our shop and then they end up leaving to work for larger companies or starting their own businesses. And then I’m stuck re-training new employees. I don’t blame them because we all have to start somewhere in order to gain the knowledge needed to excel in the industry. What we are hoping for in The Fab School to provide an ongoing pool of qualified employees for our growing industry,” said Johnson.

Unfortunately, business cannot operate as a constant training ground because they can not afford the countless hours devoted to simply training new employees. The industry is continuing to evolve and grow rapidly.

According to Johnson and many other fabrication professionals, they feel that if there is a qualified learning facility to educate and train new fabricators for the industry it would not only help feel the current demand for qualified employees, but it will also boost the industry standards for employment.

Sounds like a win/win situation.

There are other fabrication schools, but The Fab School appears to be one of the industries first schools to be recognized by the state of California as an automotive/off-road fabrication vocational training facility. The Fab School is State Certified, meaning the state dissected and evaluated The Fab School’s training and curriculum programs to verify that the school can meet the requirements of the industry.

According to Melissa Davis, The Fab School Administrator, “The school training and techniques are being closely monitored by the industry’s leading companies to validate that our students are being taught at a level that will fill all the needs of fabrication businesses and race teams out there.”

The Fab School teaches the art of fabrication and has three different classes available: Introduction to Fabrication, Intermediate Fabrication, and Advanced Fabrication.

Each class covers many aspects such as: Tube Notching, Tube Bending, Tube Cutting, Pattern Design, Chassis Design, Suspension, Sheet Metal, Race Prep, Welding, Chassis Build Up, and Shock Re-Build. Students are given the opportunity to excel in areas in which they desire and are able to build multiple projects they are able to keep after they complete the course.

The Fab School

All of The Fab Schools instructors are required to have at least ten years of industry experience as a fabricator and are state certified. The instructors at the The Fab School are Mike Queryl and Troy Johnson.

The Fab School is supported by leading industry manufacturers such as Miller Electric, Five Star Gas and Gear, Roper Whitney/Pexto, Doringer Cold Saws, Chicago Pneumatics, Makita, Irwin Vise Grip, Advanced Finishing, Mittler Bros., Rutland Tool, Cal Time, Kartek, and JMR Manufacturing.

These industry manufacturers offer students equipment and tools at discounted prices, so they are able to build a tool collection that can follow them into their future career as a fabricator.

The Fab School offers financial aid and job placement assistance to interested students.

So whether you are an employer looking for qualified employees or you want to start a career in the fabrication industry or build a something for your self…. The Fab School is the place to go.
