Laughlin Desert Challenge – Ebberts Leads In Class 1 On Saturday / Lucas Oil’s Renezeder Takes Charge in Trophy Truck Action
Laughlin, Nevada - (January 14, 2006)
Dale Ebberts took the Inland Truss Class 1 buggy to a spectacular run here at the Laughlin Desert Challenge this afternoon. Ebberts, a past SCORE Champion, made today’s difficult challenge look easy as he diced through the field of the nation’s top off road racers. Battling thick dust and heavy race traffic on the shortest desert race course of the season, Ebberts demonstrated his raw driving talent for thousands of fans here in Nevada. Ebberts Jimco-built Class 1 open wheel desert car wooed the fans who camped out on the SCORE Hill overlooking the entire infield of this 8 mile short desert course. Ebberts ran his own race, but in the end he battled with Gary Weyrich and Young Gun – Brian Ickler, who drives the Corona Extra Jimco-built race car.

Lucas Oil’s Carl Renezeder put his Trophy Truck in position to run for the win tomorrow in Laughlin, Nevada. Renezeder ran a flawless race after running side-by-side with Alan Pflueger. Renezeder is a well-known off road racing veteran in both SCORE and CORR, where he’s captured many short course racing wins in his career. In second place is Tim Herbst driving the Terrible Herbst’s #19 Ford F-150.
In class 1-2 1600, American Off Road Champion – Las Vegas’ Rob MacCachren ran the fastest in class today in a brand new 2-seat 1600 car. Rob Mac ran his new Bunderson-built car to an astounding one minutes and 56 second lead over teammate Bryan Freeman driving his Fraley-built car.
The action was incredibly wild today in the infield as 800 horsepower Trophy Trucks and Class 1’s all ran wheel-to-wheel astounding the thousands of fans attending today’s race.
SCORE International CEO – President Sal Fish has brought an wide ranging and exciting off road race show to the Nevada desert once again and today on the shores of the Colorado River thousands of fans were treated to some of the best off road racing in the world. Tomorrow is expected to be the same as everyone returns for the final event to decide who leaves as the Laughlin Desert Challenge Champion.
DirtNewz will feature live streaming audio for both the Class 1 and Trophy Truck races and beginning Sunday morning with the first race at 7:00 a.m. updates will be available here online calling each race as it happens.
