Rob Bonney WINS XRRA Rock Race at Cortez, Colorado

Cortez, CO – (May 7, 2007) The second round of the 2007 MAXXIS sponsored XRRA Rock Race Series kicked off in the usually beautiful Cortez, Colorado early Saturday morning. However, the nation's top rock racers not only had to battle Mother Nature's wicked cast of nasty cold and wet weather, but they had to face the sloppy conditions often associated with wet weather. That didn't stop a full field of rock racers who converged in this small town for a run for the checkers.

XRRA West Series top racers, Shannon Campbell and Rick Dermo were in attendance as were a host of others including veteran off road racer, Jeff Mello, and FABTECH's Tracy Jordan.

Facing difficult conditions is nothing new for many of these rock racers, many who many trekked across many states for this race. And a little rain, sleet and snow wouldn't stop the best from putting on a show for what could be considered the fastest growing rock motorsport in the United States.

Rockcrawling and off road fabricator, Rob Bonney, a long time professional rockcrawling veteran put on a talented display in Cortez, Colorado and set an incredible time of four minutes and sixteen seconds dominating the field. Bonney beat one of the top picks to win at any XRRA event, Rick Dermo by over 45 seconds after a solid day of racing.

Jason Pickett drove his rock racer to an impressive finish wrapping up third place with a time of five minutes and forty seconds finishing in front of POISON Spyder's Aaron Dusenbery/Jason Hensel, who claimed the fourth spot.

"We both had fast runs and were nearly mistake free. The POISON Spyder sponsored-rig hooked up great with our Mickey Thompson Tires and we're taking this car back to the shop for some suspension changes before the next race. It's just a matter of getting her all dialed in," said driver Jason Hensel.

XRRA Western Series returns to Colorado Springs, Colorado on June 16, 2007.
