UROC Pro RockCross
National Series Goes Wild at 2007 Off Road Expo
Shannon Campbell
Dominates the Track at the LA County Fairgrounds
#2 Maxxis/ Speedway
Trophy Truck Driver Pistol Pete Sohren Makes it to the RockCross
Semi Finals
Pomona, CA - October 8, 2007 - In search
of the perfect venue to introduce Southern California to
the all new UROC Skyjacker
Pro RockCross National Series, UROC
CEO Ranch Pratt looked no further than the 2007 Off Road
Expo. Held in the heart of Southern California this years
Off Road Expo was the perfect location for the second stop
of the first ever United Rockcrawling and Off-Road Challenge
(UROC) Skyjacker Pro RockCross National series. The entire
UROC team worked endless
hours building the course right in the middle of the horse
track at the LA County Fairgrounds in Pomona, California.
Teams from throughout the United States traveled to this
venue in hopes of having a little fun and exposing their
teams to promote this new and exciting series.
Hundreds of fans came out to catch a glimpse of this new
series and watch as teams were eliminated throughout the
day. Champions Shannon Campbell, Dean Bulloch and Brad Lovell
were the teams to beat this weekend at Round 2 of the RockCross
series. The champions might have been the ones to beat this
weekend but there were defiantly some new faces putting
on a show here in Pomona. Maxxis Tires Trophy Truck driver
'Pistol' Pete Sohren had the fans wondering if he was going
to jump into this new cross over sport. 'Pistol' Pete made
it to the semi final rounds where he had mechanical problems
with the rig he was driving, but made it around the course
to finish his first ever UROC
Skyjacker Pro RockCross National event.
In
the stock modified class it came down to Dean "Iceman"
Bulloch, Team Lovell, and Nate Williams. Dean Bulloch rolled
coming into the last turn but still had enough points to
carry him into the finals. It was Lovell and Bulloch when
the green flag dropped and Lovell flying high over the finish
line jump to capture victory. Monster
Energy's Shannon Campbell dominated the
Super Modified class, even thru the controversial calls.
Campbell went up against the only woman driver left in the
semi finals and had to re-do the entire race because contact
was made and tempers rose. Although he clearly won the round,
Shannon Campbell willingly raced her again claiming victory
and moved into the final round. Campbell raged around the
course in his Monster
Energy/ Campbell Ent./ Currie rock racer
for the final three laps of the event, strategically picking
the best lines and came out on top once again.

The next stop for UROC
will be December 1 in Phoenix, Arizona. Will we see the
domination of Monster
Energy's Shannon Campbell claim another championship
in this inaugural series? Will we see 'Pistol' Pete cross
over and build a new rock racer for the rest of the 2007
season? Stay tuned to DIRTnewz.com to find out!!
