Greenville, SC – (May 19,2008) The ’08 WEROCK Rock Crawling season kicked off in Hannibal Missouri on April 26th with some wet courses due to the rain on Friday.  As the teams took to the courses the wet conditions would either make or break them.  Cole Motorsports team of Mike Cole and Justin Blair come into the season with their first season as a team behind them.  The team had hoped to have the new rig up and running for this event to be able to keep up with all the new rigs being built.  When time started drawing short, the decision was made to once again stick with the current six year old rig.  Going into Hannibal the game plan was to just have fun and not worry about points and position.  This appeared to be a good strategy as the team was able to complete all but one course on Saturday.  They were also able to pull in best scores on two of the four courses.  This allowed them to make up points lost from the one course that wasn’t completed.  At the end of the day Saturday they were sitting fourth just 12 points out of first.

When the day started Sunday, the rain had made the courses pretty slick so they had to work hard just to finish courses.  Even with the weather they were able to get low score on one more course and by the end of the day had moved into a tie for second but moving to third place on the tie breaker and just 15 points out of first.  When the time came for the shoot out the 5th place team put a lot of pressure on all the higher teams by putting down a solid run on a very nasty course.  Then the 4th place team also managed to finish the course with a good score meaning that any mistake could knock a team back multiple positions.  With this in mind the team took to the course with only one goal, finish.  With the rig working great the team was able to do just that.  With their run they tied the score of the 4th place team so they maintained the 1 point lead they had going into the shootout.  When the second place team got hung up on the first very large rock it looked like they may fail to finish but with some great work from the spotter they were able to free them selves and finish the course but the score of 23 would knock them back to 5th.  When the leader took to the course and took out 3 cones it looked like Cole Motorsports would have their first ever WEROCK win, but they were able to finish well and with progress points were able to finish with a 25.  This gave the Cole Motorsports team their best finish in the last two seasons.

With Justin and Mike working so good together and the rig back in top form, this promises to be a great year.  They hope to pull in another great season on the way to the Grand Nationals back in Hannibal Missouri on September 6th and 7th.
