Shannon Campbell ROCKS W.E. Rock Grand National Championships with EPIC Victory CLAIMING Back-to-Back Grand National Championships in 2007 & 2008
Hannibal, Missouri (September 8, 2008) Shannon Campbell, driving his Monster Energy single-seat rock buggy, dominated the national field of professional rockcrawlers as he claimed the top spot in the W.E. Rock Grand National Championship. Campbell, a Gilroy, Arizona resident faced off against Jason Paule, Jesse Haines, Brent Bradshaw, Cody Waggoner and a slew of others as the Unlimited Class of rockcrawlers braved the gnarly rocks of Hannibal, Missouri.
Wet weather did not put a damper on the competitor as Campbell used his BFGoodrich Tires and FOX Racing Shox to overcome the obstacles enroute to an epic win on the rocks. Campbell commented, “We’ve had our sights set on this championship since the beginning of the season. We had two cars entered in the event. My brother Nick drove the Pro Modified while I drove in the Unlimited Division. I also brought in the big gun to spot for me, Lance Clifford, and he moved some massive rocks and put me in the right spot on nearly every single obstacle. It was a great weekend of competing and taking the top spot among the best rockcrawlers in the world is pretty cool. It’s been a long year and I’m glad I could represent my sponsors and fans with a season championship. We couldn’t do it without the partnership of our many sponsors, they are the ones that continually provide us with the opportunity to win.”
Finishing second to the reigning champion was the 2006 Grand National Champion, Jason Paule. Paule held off charges from Jesse Haines who took an early lead in the event only to falter in the wet conditions on Sunday. Paule, a rock crawling veteran from Rapid City, South Dakota arrived to the event in his Twisted Customs designed two-seat rock crawler. The hushes and whispers were unprecedented as the one-time champion unleashed his rock fury on the Missouri rock pile and battled his good friend, Campbell for the top spot.
Rock Runner Racing Team Owner, George Wadeson commented, “Some people didn’t think Jason and his two-seat old-school rock crawler could compete here in the Grand Nationals and we’ll the results speak for themselves. Congratulations to Shannon for an outstanding display of professional rock crawling. It was a good weekend in Missouri.”
