TEAM PIRATE4X4 DRIVER JOHN "JR" REYNOLDS TEAMS UP WITH BFGOODRICH TIRES
Georgetown, CA- January 21, 2009 - Well known privateer and rock crawling icon John "JR" Reynolds has secured a new partnership with BFGoodrich Tires for the 2009 season.
JR is most recognized for winning Four Wheeler Magazine's Top Truck Challenge in dominating fashion, along with winning the first "King of the Hammers" race in Johnson Valley, CA. John was the favorite for winning the 2nd King of the Hammers race and was leading the majority of the race up until the end the final rock course of the race where he suffered a catastrophic chassis failure and flat tire that ended his chance of winning.
JR was a major focus of the riveting rock sports documentary film "King of the Hammers" produced by Hammerking Productions as being the man to try and beat Shannon Campbell, who eventually went on to win the race, despite starting in the back of the pack.
"I learned a lot at last year's KOH race. I learned the weak points of my vehicle and improved them. I've also leveled the playing field with Shannon by joining the BF Goodrich Team. This year the Pirate4x4 Bronco will be running the newly developed BF Goodrich 39" KRT Brawler. There have been a lot of teams building new cars for this race. I believe refining my rig over the past year and being able to run the very best tire on the market will be the key to winning this race. I am taking this race very seriously, and I will either win, break, or crash," says JR.
About KOH:
KOH is the only race of its kind. The event will take place on February 27, 2009, and is a now a spectator friendly event! The event will be part rock race, and part desert race. Race teams will start side-by-side at 30 second intervals from Means Dry Lake bed, and will navigate through the desert on a set race course to their first rock course. As of today, the official course has not been released, and is not going to be released until race week in February. We speculate much more desert in '09, and approximately 7 Johnson Valley trails (aka: Hammer Trails - Sledgehammer, Jackhammer, Wrecking Ball, etc) to make up the course. There are going to be approximately 75 competitors in this race, from all different disciplines of racing.
